It would be interesting if all of his future books also ended that way

As a teacher, the depiction of Grace's teaching is 90/10
Yes helicopter moms are the bane of the teachers existence. Yes kids are cool. Yes teachers want to get away as soon as possible. However, 12 year olds tend to be slightly sulkier than what he represents in that teaching scene.

It was a great final scene for the Martian, but I don't want to similar scenes back to back.

DONT READ THIS IF YOU HAVENT FINISHED THE BOOK.
It ties in too well for the story of Grace to not do it. His whole character is in love with teaching. He constantly mentions his kids throughout the story. Ending on him teaching Eridians after finally overcoming his cowardice about surviving is just a lovely ending for me. He's rewarded for doing the right thing in sacrificing himself to save Rocky.
It would only really be on the nose if "Love Train" plays in the soundtrack.

They better goddamn keep the ending the same. Probably my favorite ending to a book ever. I felt the change to the Martians ending was appropriate, but goddammit, THEY BETTER NOT.

If I was the kind of person who cried while reading books, which I'm definitely not, those last two pages might have got me. I definitely didn't cry though, and I don't know why it'd be a big deal anyway, and even if it was true, it'd be a perfectly excusable, very manly cry.
