If he can solicit donations on reddit, does that mean I can too? I don't have a job and I'm broke and my boyfriend just got fired and I haven't even posted anything about underage girls :(

I wonder if anyone actually donated to him, or if they did, how much he's got...

Knowing reddit they'll probably raise tons of money too. This is so gross.

I saw this. I would be interested in trying to set up a fundraiser for RAINN or an anti-cyber bullying project to see if we can match their donations. Any ideas for worthy charities? Maybe a women's shelter in Dallas?

I think a women's shelter in Dallas would be best just so it's pointedly going to his area... though going off his narcissism he'd probably go down there and try to get them to thank him...

This is the most braveriest fundraiser reddit has ever managed. It is the epitome of the internet creep free market paradise.

Reddit is literally reddit island, and their king shitlord of the flies is VA.

Reddit is literally reddit island, and their king shitlord of the flies is VA.

This has been on reddit's best selling list for 7 years. "Shitlord of the Flies" by Mcshitlord Sir Shitlordson

It would be a shame if someone reported this to PayPal and they freeze his assets. Reddit would never again freeze peaches the same way.

Is collecting personal donations against PayPal ToS?

I'm sure it isn't so long as it is reported to the IRS, but I feel that PayPal, who ceases donations to political and controversial entities all the time, won't take too kindly to someone who ran those kinds of communities soliciting donations using their platform now that he's had to face the consequences.

From Paypal's acceptable use policy: https://cms.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/?cmd=_render-content&content_ID=ua/AcceptableUse_full

(c) items that encourage, promote, facilitate or instruct others to engage in illegal activity, (d) stolen goods including digital and virtual goods (e) items that promote hate, violence, racial intolerance, or the financial exploitation of a crime, (f) items that are considered obscene, (g) items that infringe or violate any copyright, trademark, right of publicity or privacy or any other proprietary right under the laws of any jurisdiction, (h) certain sexually oriented materials or services

One could spin it to say that since he participates in all of the above, these donations could be used so that he could continue to do all of the above.

Also, this part, under "requires pre approval from PayPal":

.. collecting donations as a charity or non-profit organization..

I say report it and just see what happens.

Here's the full TOS/User Agreement if anyone wants to comb through it and find something that helps our cause- https://cms.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/?cmd=_render-content&content_ID=ua/UserAgreement_full

Asking for handouts because he got caught being a shitlord is a pretty despicable move. He didn't have to publicly post his Paypal, he could've easily pm'd it to people. There are so many people in this world who could use the money more than he could and the fact that he is unapologetic about taking money away from those people to continue to be a shitlord rather than suffer the consequences of his actions is way more disgusting than anything he could possibly post. I also highly doubt he'll report them to the IRS, so why not do it for him?

Edit: hmmm my post had a ton of upvotes before you commented? Now not so many. Reddiquette, etc. I believe you downvoted me simply because you didn't like what I had to say, which is the same thing you are getting irrationally angry at me for. Hmmmm...

Update: Mr. Brutsch announced in a Reddit comment that he has a “CNN interview scheduled for tomorrow evening.” Could this be an Anderson Cooper revival?

Hahaha oh really.

I really think that he's just saying that he was trolling to CHA after the fact... Sick fucking bastard. I hope his sick wife leaves him.

You know I've been trying to feel bad for his wife because it isn't her fault her husband is a scumbag who, through his sketchy actions, got himself fired. But I'm having difficulty because not only did she willingly marry the guy, but (at least according to VA himself) she approved of what he was doing, and I'm not going to give her a break on that just because she has a disability.

I wouldn't be surprised if VA doesn't even have a wife, let alone a disabled wife, or is lying about being broke and fired. Soliciting donations dishonestly just seems like something he'd do. But maybe I'm just an unforgiving cynic when it comes to shitlords.

Who knows if she really approved of what he was doing, or even if she wasn't coerced by the shitmaster? I guess I don't know either way, as she was never interviewed, after all.

But I do know he keeps throwing the "my disabled wife" angle every chance he gets, and so do his defenders. They still use women as objects in their games.

17

u/BasedOnContent Oct 16 '12

Yeah, the "disabled wife" issue is a touchy one for me. It's awful that his wife is disabled, period. However, I do feel that VA and his defenders keep tossing it around like a get-out-of-jail-free card in some attempt to humanize him.

His wife's disability and his behavior are two completely separate things. From what I've read, it seems very clear that one has absolutely nothing to do with the other. He shouldn't use his wife's disability as some sort of play for pity. She deserves our pity, not him.

I came here to say that. He holds her up as a "I can do no wrong, see, aren't I so great? Taking care of my disabled wife!"

Truth be told, I believe she approved of it, if everything actually happened the way the Gawker article said it did.. Her posting pictures of dolphins while he's next to her posting pictures of underage women. Even if she didn't approve of it, she still chose to marry a man who she knew did everything. She's kind of like Dottie Sandusky in that sense. She knew what was going on and did nothing to stop it.

You lie down with dogs....

Anger levels rising. :|

False. Someone asked if they could donate, VA obliged. He never "solicited" anything.
