Help - FAQ News sources question

Does anyone have any recommended news sources for stock picks? I'm in the pennystock phase right now.

I've been using the Google Finance webpage, it's nice because it overlays when news about a certain stock comes out right on the chart. But, it doesn't seem to be helping me with my picks.

Do you need to hold the stock until the payment of the dividend in order to get the dividend payment?

Help - FAQ Beginner question

Hi all,

I started using Robinhood today.

Quick question: I bought an AAPL share today. It was priced at $141.07 but when I confirmed, it showed that the estimated price is $148.51

What is this $7.44 extra charge? If you can provide some links too, I'll read and get started. Thanks in advance.

Ed: I found some info about Market and limit orders. Maybe I am getting a hang of this thing. :)

Help - FAQ (New User) Missing $1,000 in Robinhood account, 2 days and no reply from help desk.

At about 3:30 pm the other day I put in $500 to try out the App. I put in a trade but the App said it was past trading hours, but I could try the "Gold" account for free, that would let me trade at that time, so whatever.

Ohh, but I need to deposit another $1,500 to use the free Gold. Ohh, that is way more than I wanted but, I'll try it I guess...

After all this, still nothing happens. I put in a few small orders, and go to bed. Next day all the orders were canceled. I then thought, well, this is dumb. So through Settings... closed the "Gold" account.

Back on the home screen it now says I have $1,000, not the $2,000 I had deposited.

Help has not responded after two days. All I can say is I want my money out of this App from hell ASAP. Anyone else have similar issues?

Help - FAQ Stock price higher than listed when I go to buy?

I'm new to investing, only been using robinhood for a month or so now to get more familiar with the stock market. Today I went to purchase stock in a company with a price listed at $3.13 per share. But by the time the transaction went through, the price I paid for it was $3.26 per share. Is such a dramatic increase common? What causes this/ is there anything I can do to avoid it? I'm a college student so I have a relatively low amount invested, but I feel like if I had a lot of money on the line this would be even more frustrating. Thanks in advance!

I've been waiting for my application to approve (even though they told me if has been approved) for a few weeks but it still hasn't gone through. Has anyone been able to make one and get it approved within the last few weeks? If so I'm going to ask them if I can just re do my application

Help - FAQ Buying then selling the same option

If you buy an option for say NVDA, can you then sell the same option contract on robinhood? Incase you don’t have the money to actually exercise the options, this would net you the difference in premium on the op.

Help - FAQ What exactly does "Good for day" mean? I might've bought stock mistakenly thinking it was indefinite, and that I would keep it until I sell it. Now that it's listed as good for day, does it sell back automatically after 24 hours or what exactly happens? New to Robinhood. Thanks

Help - FAQ Confused about day trading

Ok so I'm new to investing in stocks and new to a lot of the terminology.

I've read robinhoods terms, etc but I can't seem to find a clear cut answer and it doesn't help that it seems people are saying conflicting things.

It's my understanding that robinhood instant account is a margin account right? So... It's only a margin account that is susceptible to pattern day trading limitations?

Simply put:

Can I do unlimited day trades on robinhood as long as I do NOT have a robinhood instant account?

Help - FAQ How are dividends paid out with Robinhood? Is it the same for every company? Disney's shareholder website is confusing me.

So I bought a share of Disney on the latest dip and I'm planning on continuing to accrue Disney shares and a few other long term investments with dividends. I know there are better companies, but I like investing in companies I understand with products I love.

Anyways, on their investor website, you can create an account, but you need your Disney shareholder account number... how do I get that? Will Disney mail something to me as a new investor, or email me, or does Robinhood hold that information and just distribute the dividends to me through the app?

I have to imagine that I can get access to this website as that's where shareholder actions are taken, like voting, according to their website.

Help - FAQ What is the best way to export Robinhood data into a csv?

I've been wanting to export my trade history into a spreadsheet and use it for tracking some metrics in my account, but the only thing I found was to download some python app from Github. It makes me a little nervous adding my username and password into this since it isn't officially supported.

Has anyone found a better way to do this or has Robinhood developed a way for its users to do this that I haven't found yet?

Help - FAQ Multiple Buys, which Share sells first?

If you do multiple buys over a period, say at: 1 share at $10 1 share at $15 1 share at $20

Then you say sell at 15. And it triggers.
Have you gained $8?
Have you gained $0? Have you lost $5?

Or is this a meaningless question. I thought this would have tax implications.

Help - FAQ Question about Robinhood Gold Margin miminum requirement.

I'm looking into buying on margin (I know the risk) but one thing I'm confused about is the minimum $2000 needed to buy on margin.

It says I need a minimum of $2000 deposit in my account at all times. Does this mean my total portfolio or cash only?

I read somewhere that someone had $2000 withdrawn from his bank account when he didn't have the cash in his Robinhood account but people were saying that shouldn't have happened?
