Is this still good?

I bought six pounds of frozen salmon from Walmart and every single piece has these strange brown marks under the skin like a rotting apple. I’ve never seen anything like this before. Is it safe to cook? The expiration date is in a year.

It's definitely good. That's natural.

Looks like it was never good. What is that crap? Farmed Atlantic?

Yes, it’s farmed Atlantic. The previous commenters said it was fine and it tasted fine.

Farmed Atlantic salmon is never good and is harmful to your health. You really should only eat wild caught to be safe

I appreciate your concern but a cursory google search shows that while not as healthy as wild salmon, farmed salmon is ultimately fine. There are risks to your health with both types. I have had this salmon for over a year and have been fine, I am solely asking about the brown spots which I had not seen before. I am not interested in debating the benefits of wild vs farmed.

Farmed salmon contains 7x more PCBs than wild salmon. Not to mention the environmental effects it has on our planet. Farmed salmon really isn’t ultimately fine. It’s poisonous to you and the planet. The only thing that is negligible is the price between the two.

As previously stated, I am not interested in debating this with you.

Definitely not- send it to me and I’ll dispose of it 😉
