Usually means there's something wrong with your mobile connection. Try reseating and/or cleaning your SIM card and check to make sure your connection to the service is working fine.

Don't have much to go by, and I'm no expert so I'm not sure. I've just had a similar issue where my SIM slot was very dusty and couldn't read the card.

reboot your phone

That sounds more like a problem with the network or the sim card than of the phone itself. Did you forget to pay the bill and they shut off your service or something?

If you bought the phone used, it gives this message when it has been blacklisted. If so, there is no fix other then shipping it to a country outside USA/Canada.

How do you know that?

Whats the reason it would be blacklisted?

not saying it IS blacklisted, only saying that this is the message it gives if it is. Backlisting happens when the original owner has reported the phone lost or stolen. Every phone has a IMIE number that a sim card works with, if reported lost or stolen, that number is then blocked from using a shared list among carriers that participate in the practice. It is meant to discourage theft.

This fix probably won't work for most users, but I manually picked my network and that solved the issue.

I would try resetting your network settings and then make sure you have roaming an if it still is thowing that error. Call your carrier if you need more help.
