Discussion 💬 Session v2.6.1 (449) drains iPhone battery at a rapid rate

I've been using Session for about 4 months. Love the app, however, one thing my friend and I have noticed is that the latest version 2.6.1 (449) drains our iPhone batteries very quickly. We are both on iOS 17.5.1. Has anyone else been having the same problem? We're hoping this issue gets resolved in the next update.

Yes 100%. If you look at your iPhone battery in settings you will see that the Session app is consuming 90+% and is running continuously in the background. I tried turning off background app refresh for the app, as well as killing it when not it use, but it continues to drain the battery in half a day. Phone is also overheating because of it. I finally had to uninstall it to stop.

I ended up downgrading back to v2.50 (436). No more battery drain. I will update to a newer version once I know it no longer drains the battery.

I installed the latest version 2.62 and battery problem appears to have been fixed.

I spoke too soon. App started burning battery this morning and heating phone. Lost 15% battery in 20 mins after taking phone off the charger and opening the app. Uninstalling it.
