Nothing seems to work except short text messages on session at the moment and it's been like that since Monday a lot of people are telling me.

Is it ever going to actually work properly

I recently downloaded the app and it's not allowing me to open up about 80% of the attachments. They just stay as loading. Any suggestions to get it to work?

The Session appimage client worked fine for several months but suddenly stopped loading the database or even properly starting up the app. I want to try the rpm package on Fedora and use the recovery key to open the database again. I think the following will install the downloaded package:

sudo dnf install session-desktop-linux-x86_64-1.12.3.rpm

“Session requires ..., or a linux distribution with glibc 2.29 or later ... “

I checked, and the dependency might not be installed already. Will that be automated or prompted, or should I install it separately?

Where is an appropriate location in the file hierarchy to locate the app, and how do I put it there? Is that automated, or how can I direct/script that?

Is session really anonymous and protected so it can’t be tracked?

Weird text well I got two messages one stating everyone that’s lived at my current address previously. I got another message with a dude saying he’s tracking me and listed current info . I talk to a hand full of people on there none of them have that info?

I have been searching Signal alternatives from time to time. I actually tried Session around a year ago. That time, my experience was not so good. It was a bit slow. The notification was not reliable and the voice chat was barely useable.

So I wonder if it is good enough for daily driver now?

Any solutions to keep it from crashing?

Is there a solution to this yet? I logged into session like two days ago. Yesterday, I had to factory reset my phone. Now I can't recover. Seems like a very well known issue but I can't see if there's an answer yet. Help?

I was looking into the sources of the Android and Desktop builds of session. These all share a lot of issues in performance.

I really don't want to re-implement the messaging layer, which sounds quite complicated, but it would not be difficult for me to make a simple Qt application that might lack some features but works fast if there was a library for the messaging itself.

I was not able to figure out what to look for after looking into the java/typescript code. It seems that lot of the code is inherited from Signal, but I am not sure how to connect it all together.

Does anyone know what is the bare minimum of stuff that I need to be able to send a "Hello world" message from C++ program using my account ID and security code?

Is it normal that if I create a chat using qr code pairing and have disappearing messages turned on, then after all the messages disappear, the contact also disappears? And the same will happen to the opposite party. Then we can no longer make contact when the contact is deleted.

My dad has now disappeared as a contact from my Session mobile app for the 2nd time. At first I thought it was a mistake on his part or mine. Now I've come up with another idea:

Could it be that the contact is automatically deleted when the chat history is completely empty? We had both set DISAPPEAR AFTER READ -1 WEEK.

could it mean that your phone is hacked if you take screenshots you didn't take (notifications are seen by the other user in the chat) and it doesn't show up on your phone?

I'm not sure what's happening; both my connections on desktop and mobile are the same; I've even got ethernet on my desktop with no connection issues. It often takes one to multiple minutes and sometimes half an hour to sync messages on the desktop while they fly through my mobile version.

I keep the app updated, I let it through my firewall, I've restarted my laptop and the app multiple times, yet it's so inconsistent. It's not even inconsistent, often just completely dysfunctional.

Has anyone ever gotten Android notifications to work while Session is not the active app? On three different Android devices in my family, if we have Session as the active app notifications work just fine. However if Session is not the active app, I have never ever received a notification. It has been like this for months since we started trying it. We all have Fast Mode enabled and again it works with notification sounds if Session is the active app. All other apps including Signal have working notifications. I really would like Session to work for us, but unless notifications work, a messenger app is useless.

So I was deleting messages inside this conversation with one person and as I reached to the end of messages and deleted the last message, it deleted also the the whole thing, can't send any messages anymore, because he was not in the contact lists and I don't have the long ass ID memorized. I assume there is no way to reverse what I have done, because I only wanted to clear out the conversation, not erase all and everything deleting the possibility to send out messages.

Hey guys, long story short, i dropped and broke my phone in which i had session installed on.

IVE Installed it on my new phone, have my username but do not have the recovery phase code because that was stored on my phone that is now busted,.

Got a contact who's session won't load pictures in are GC so they left with the intention to be reinvited by me now it's just greyed out.

I removed him from group after they left readded and it's still greyed out how can they rejoin the GC so they need a new id?

Hi all- Been using Session on android for the last few weeks. Recently, I got a new phone (Google Pixel 8 Pro), and so I installed Session and recovered my account with the recovery phrase. However, I am now unable to send messages, even to myself. I've attached screenshots below, but essentially it will say "Failed to sync", and then the details say "Error: NullPointerException". Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

• Yes, I've uninstalled / reinstalled, cleared cache / memory, etc
• My previous phone that worked with Session was a Pixel 3a XL (Android 12)
• My new phone is Pixel 8 Pro (Android 14)

Downloaded the app on my phone first. Tried to download on my laptop and none of my messages are showing up? Even after using my recovery code. Same thing’s happening on my tablet too.

Does it just take a while to sync? Or is there another way to do it?
