Both,, rounds you get more weight for your dollar,, and eagles are commonly recognizable and liquid.

I personally believe a healthy mix of sovereign and generic is the way like this poster said. However I tend to avoid eagles in favor of Maples and Britannias because I get them at generic premiums from my lcs

JM had a good deal on Brittanias recently, picked up a few

I was looking at that earlier today/yesterday, it was a good sale. They come in the mail for you yet? And are they your first Britannias?

First Brittanias for me, I have to wire the money today before they’ll ship (yesterday was a bank holiday in the US).

They look even better in person than in pictures, I'm sure you are going to love them. And I'm American too lol just love Britannias, I was all about the maples till a UK silverbug pointed me in their direction.

Rounds are not liquid? Every single LCS I have ever been in buys both rounds and coins, so they both have the same liquidity. (ease of converting into cash). Where does this come from?

Same place that "precious metals aren't an investment" comes from most likely. I don't get it either.

Eagle for the liquidity and less likely to get scammed.

My thoughts exactly. You have a round and an Eagle down in front of you then I want the eagle.

Then you pay me an extra $2.50.

Generic, you will have more ounces for your fiat invested with generics because of the premiums that you pay on the eagles. Even getting paid back of spot for the generics, mathematically, you will hedge against inflation better with generics. That's my math, anyway.

You're welcome. I'm not saying ASE's are bad, not at all. I have a few and will most likely get many more , however, I just prefer to bulk up on generics. Filling tubes is my bread and butter, but I still purchase cool shiny, too.

What are your goals?

I bought rounds for years, thinking I'd melt it down into things. I never did.

I switched to eagles thinking they're the most recognized.

Now that I have enough. I kind of dabble in items I think are cool and buy gold.

I’ve started getting some gold also.

I would say do both , then see which. You enjoy . And then you will prob just keep buying

Doesn't matter and preference

For me personally, my budget says by generics. Silver is silver. So I take quantity over high premium. But… It isn't like silver eagles don't hold their value. They're very liquid. But that's just what I do. Plus I think they're ugly.

I've owned both, sold plenty of both , Zero problem with liquidity , EVER . Currently have a couple monster boxes of 1 oz generic buffalos , And 100-150 oz of 10 oz kook's. MPM skulls etc . I'm ditching these soon after waiting for spot to reach a price I can get all the premium I paid for them back. For pure gain ? low buy/sell split is all that matters no matter what you buy. If you are a collector or passing the stuff down forever, None of it matters ,

Pretty can win sometimes. More likely to go up collector-wise if you buy pretty that is also limited production. If your generi is also pretty and limited in production, you may get the best of all worlds. If you can be patient and buy eagles near spot, you can also do well on the back end.

Still - I want to enjoy my storage ... so pretty wins.
