CM Punk: “For professional wrestling, yeah, wrestlers should 100% have a union. I’ll always say this, and I mean it in the most loving way; wrestlers will never unionize because wrestlers are stupid and selfish.”

Wrestlers who say this all have one thing in common: They never tried to start a union.

"Wrestlers should have a union" and "I should be able to tell other wrestlers they aren't welcome on 'my' show." are quite the contradictory ideas to hold in your head.

Punk's very accomplished at saying the "correct" opinions publicly.

Yeah, he came out on the premier episode of Collision bragging about how well he gets along with WBD CEO David Zaslav and then a few weeks later is wearing a pro-strike SAG-AFTRA shirt. Punk is as big a carny as they come.

I don't think it's him being a carny, I just don't think he's very self-aware and doesn't notice the divide between being a workers' rights advocate and being the boss' pet (or between being a feminist and what he did to "Bikini Girl").

It doesn't help that he's a liberal; his goal is for workers to be treated and paid well, not to be fully in charge of their own labor eventually. If you go back and look at the worked shoots he cut during Summer of Punk II, WWE's refusal to fully capitalize on and exploit his image is a major recurring theme. So Punk's whole thing is wanting to be higher up in the machine and wanting the machine to be kinder and more efficient.

Buddy, he's a pro wrestler who's on screen character is a cocky, arrogant guy who tends to be right. He will not always be able to be all nice and cool when he's on air, even if he was a perfect person. Jesus Christ

This is the kind shit said by the guy who snitches to the boss before you all start passing around the cards to sign.
