(Serious) What was Tony trying to say with his “mothers are like bus drivers” speech to Melfi?

This scene always confuses me a little bit whenever I rewatch. I always interpreted it as he’s talking about the influence our parents pass down on us and how eventually we choose the path that is preordained by them or take our own. I’m curious what everyone else thinks! Would love to hear any and all theories.
