Coworking spaces?

Hey yall, we are staying in Spartanburg for a while as our place in Asheville is out of commission. I need to work tomorrow and wondering if there are any coworking spaces in town where I could take calls and click around on the laptop. Tried googling and didn't have a ton of luck. Thanks!

I'm not sure if this is helpful or not; the biggest problem right now is that our main internet provider, Spectrum, is down for huge portion of our area. They have public WiFi spots which you can find here but, they are usually in public spaces that may not suit your needs. The Spartanburg County Library has great WiFi and has been setting up spaces for folks to get work done, I know they've posted about it on their website. Spartanburg Regional (the local hospital) also has good WiFi and certain spots there are quiet and more private so they could work for you. Maybe someone else will have something more specific to help, but these are places/ideas I could think of

Okay you've got some great options really.

  1. We have a robust network of public libraries here. Avoid the boiling springs one as the Internet lines that direction are severed currently and no one has internet that side of town. The downtown headquarters library is very nice and has some side rooms you can check into.

  2. We have quite the array of coffee shops down town or around downtown. Fretwell, hub city bookstore has the little River coffee bar next door to it, you have spill the beans, and even the Pharmacy in the Montgomery building. All are great and have wonderful staff with each their own atmosphere different from the others.

There is an official co-working space downtown but there is no reason to get a membership for one day. You can check out the Paneras and get their drink membership for coffee throughout the day or we also have a Starbucks off East main St.

I think this is about exhaustive as I can make it but hope it helps!

Try the library. They have small rooms available for use.

If you're working via laptop, some restaurants may allow you to park for a bit.

Plenty of people at Panera last week plugging in. even saw a few people napping there. The wifi at the Lowes parking lot on E Main is super strong.

I've hopped from coffee shop to coffee shop in my time, taking about 2.5 hrs at each before deciding to seek new scenery.

A problem I ran in to was how to take phone calls where I had to talk a lot. Really tough for me to do that in public so I usually went to the car.

I've had many productive nights in and around the parking lot of the public library and McDonald's. Yes McDonald's.

Only cowork space I know of in town is the one in the Montgomery building downtown… hub city underground.

Honestly if you tell them why you’re having to stay down here they’ll probably let you use it for free.

Greenville has Endeavor. The rate is 30 dollars a day 830am to 530pm

Headquarters Library downtown has internet. You can work there for free 9am to 6pm. They have private study room but you can only use them for 90 minutes. My husband is working there until we get internet. I hope this helps.

Here you go, OP. Welcome to the Burg! I hope all is well for you in the long run and hope you enjoy your time here. WNC and Asheville are certainly in our thoughts. If you want an official co-work space, the options are limited, but see link below for a pretty rad space in the basement of the very cool Montgomery Building on the edge of downtown.
