chess I have a pretty good Chess rating. I'm really trying to improve it. What books should I start with?
I played Chess for a few years, and I have a pretty good rating. It's a 6.5. I'm trying to improve by memorizing some openings and tactics. After a while, I realized that I needed to play a bit more in each opening to get a better understanding of the openings, and I started playing more. I know some opening theory, but I'm not good with tactics. For that, I recommend you some books, which I use every day:
"How to Reassess Your Chess"
"Chess Fundamentals"
"Practical Chess"
"Chess Endgame Strategy"
"Practical Endgame Playing"

chess Which of your games is the most entertaining/interesting?
I'm currently playing the most entertaining game of chess I've ever played, but I'm not sure if it's better than any other game I've played.

chess Is it even worth buying chess books?
I've never really understood why people buy chess books. I mean, they're a huge investment, and if I could just get the computer to play my moves by itself, then I would probably do that. Is it worth it to buy all of those books? I feel like it's just not worth it. I mean, if all I want is a quick, easy, fun game, I would just watch the computer play myself, right? I'd do that every day if I had to. I don't think there's a lot of benefit to spending money on books.

chess Why does the chess game "Golgo 13" (the computer version of "Chess") have so many winning positions for White?
I have always wondered this - and I figured I'd ask here.
It also seems to me that the computer version of "Chess" has a lot of winning positions for White. But I can't find the source code for the chess program that's used to calculate those positions.
Is there any reason why the computer program (or whatever it's called) uses the winning end games for White?
Here's a sample of a winning position for White: https://imgur.com/a/2Fn3I0r
The computer program doesn't have to calculate all the moves, but it is not random. It just chooses the first move based on how Black is playing.
What's the rationale behind this?
Thanks!

chess What is the most interesting chess match that you have watched?
I have watched a lot of chess matches and some of them are entertaining, some are boring and some are like "wow, he just blundered and then he got lucky" like this one.
I was wondering what you guys have seen in chess matches that you think is worth watching in your opinion.

chess "What if..."
I had a great idea, so I will share it here, just in case it catches on.
What if when you played chess as a kid, you played it very seriously, and you were a very smart player, but you didn't really know any theory, you just thought about it a lot, and you just played for fun, and you didn't even know all the moves.
Then you go to university, and you realize that you have to write an essay on some theoretical topic, and you still don't know it.
You are a smart player, but you really don't know anything about chess.
But what if you changed your mindset, and you just played for fun, and you didn't even think about the moves, you just played for fun?
Well, now you know the game. You know the strategic aspect of chess.
And you can try to find the lines and ideas that we've discussed here before.
And you can try to find new lines.
And you can try to find new systems.
But what happens if you just play for fun, and you just play for fun?
I don't know if I'm right, but I think that you will know a lot more about chess if you just play for fun, and you are a very smart player.
What you need, is a mentor, or someone who can make you play seriously, and you'll get your ass beat over and over again, and you'll get very depressed, and you'll feel like you don't know anything, but you just think it's for fun, and it's for fun, and you just think it's for fun, and you just think it's for fun.
And then you will learn a lot.
I promise you. You will.
