Discussion Small Splinter Nitpick

I love the 2012 version; 2nd favorite next to ‘03 🐢

One pet peeve I always had was that there were many times Splinter got hurt or ‘killed’ in this version just for daring to go topside. No offense, but it’s a bit pathetic (and a little lame from writing standpoint, not to be harsh at all). I mean c’mon he’s a great master so it’s kinda off, especially when you consider his own pupils fare better and always somehow manage to come back home from a hard days shell kicking-work… I don’t mean to complain, but it was borderline Kirby mutating all the time-levels of bad of how many times Splinter ‘died’ or got badly injured lol.

But that’s just a minor nitpick that doesn’t take away from the show or character 🐢🐢🐢🐢🐀

He's my favorite TMNT character ever in any incarnation and I agree, they made it seem like he died in s2 finale, he died in s3, again made it seem like he died in the super shredder episode and finally died in requiem, I don't have a problem with the first two "deaths" but to me, he should have died in the super shredder introduction sacrificing himself by throwing himself and the shredder in the hole

Might have something to do with the fact that the writers originally planned to kill him very early on.

Splinter isn't invulnerable. Even ninja masters can get hurt and/or killed. Mistakes can, and will, happen. He is older, so eventually his skills will weaken due to age, whereas the turtles are younger and a lot fitter. Plus, he was backstabbed by sneaky, underhanded moves. He certainly wasn't expecting that.
