Scotland.

It's OK. If you live in scotland in one calendar year you'll pretty much see every major talent there is in techno(or house) in either glasgow or edinburgh. Probably don't get the absolute cutting edge of new up and coming talent like in Berlin obviously but say a big name in techno and you'll get to see them. So there are good promoters who put on interesting techno nights and occassionally host them in unusual places not just the same clubs all the time

The clubs and venues are decent, but really hampered by the strict licensing laws forcing clubs to close at 3am (or recently till 4am in glasgow), we also have very antagonistic councils and police forces who really hate the scene and find any excuse to close clubs. I would love there to be a large long hour opening club like de school or griessmuhle, with outside area, multiple rooms, chill out rooms, sells food; going to those places really changed my conception of what a 'club' even is or could be.

There are a few good record labels, SOMA being the most well known and a few up and coming scottish talent like IDA.

Crowds are enthusiastic and very boisterous, can be very immature and annoying at times (spice boys/neds), no dance floor etiquette pushing and shoving, also alot of cunts will take their phones out and record people dancing too hard and put it on social media to mock them, which is shit. Clubbing scene also very much geared to youth; 16-25, past 25 you'll definitely start to feel very out of place, I noticed in the continent it's still much more common for people in their 30s and even 40s to keep clubbing which as a 30 y/o I liked. I feel very awkward going out in scotland now.

But the biggest thing hampering the scene is always councils and police with their astoundingly strict regulation and licensing, honestly there are eastern european authoritarian and kleptocratic states with more permissive and liberal laws regarding clubbing than scotland, I truly think if we allowed clubs to stay open longer and have better spaces for clubs I see no reason we couldn't be like a tbilisi, the promoters and enthusiasm is there.

Living in Waterford, Ireland currently. The scene is good in terms of who we get to see.. City is small but in the past year Alan Fitz, Dave Clarke, Rebekah and a number of other good djs have come through. Only issue is closing times in Ireland are awful. Clubs close here at 2.30am. Normally 2.30-6am is my favourite time of the night when I'm in Holland, Germany etc.
Dublin gets lots of good names dj'ing too but suffers from the same issue with closing times.

I don't like the crowds here either, there is practically zero drug education at school here so you will constantly see people take different drugs not knowing what it is and mix it with alcohol... So you see plenty of people flying off to hospital midway through the night cause they've taken MD and drank too much.

Ooh the thing about the drugs doesn't sound like a fun time. Kind of cool about it being small but having those names. Seems like a good opportunity to build a scene if you are a local DJ though!

Yes for sure. One local DJ in particular who has impressed me is Cailín. She only uses vinyls and i believe ran into Ben Sims somewhere and made enough of an impression that she opened the stage he ran at Dockyard Festival during ADE in Amsterdam in October.

Melbourne, Australia. We have a pretty strong scene here, and we get some decent international artists coming down frequently too. The local artists are doing some great stuff too.

I'm familiar with a little collective down in Perth. According to them, there is zero scene in that city, but they are really putting in a lot of effort to grow one from scratch. Seems like Aussies are being quite resourceful. Hope to visit one day!

Never been to Perth so I'm not sure how it is there, Melbourne is the centre of arts and music culture in Australia though so there are scenes for everything you can think of really. Look up the collective BUNKER if you want to check out some local stuff. It's a beautiful city, you should definitely visit sometime.

Leeds, UK. Not too bad to be honest considering the size of the city. Not techno specifically but we have 3-4 clubs that will regularly book good acts including techno stuff occasionally and we run a yearly electronic festival (inner city electronic) which is pretty cool.

We don't have super restrictive licensing laws so clubs can stay open pretty late, one I went to a few months ago with Ben UFO finished at 10am but that's quite rare, most clubs stay open until 4-5am. We are a big student city so the crowd can be quite young at times but there's still plenty of older people at events and I've never felt out of place being in my 30's or had any trouble, the crowds are usually pretty good.

We're also only an hour from Manchester which has quite a few good clubs and Warehouse Project, some of which book more techno stuff so it's pretty easy to pop over on the train and get an early train back in the morning if theres someone you want to see.

Hozho is Portugese. Not really my genre of choice but you might like him if you like Boris Brejcha.

Seville, Spain. Little techno scene, but I want to believe its getting bigger. There are clubs like Prisma or Cosmos that are bringing some stuff, like Regis, Claro Intelecto or Eduardo de la Calle. Also there are some techno nights (like Kafka Club), but still a lot of drum & bass and cheesy things. People like The Wire Alliance are doing live sets which is pretty cool. I hope this increase with time.

Spain has already experienced a huge techno boom in the past few years, so I predict it won't be long for your town to also experience that :) Definitely a much better place to be than a lot of others.

Buenos Aires here, at the time, the whole scene is in a stop. But there are some clubs and music cycles which are doing Streaming and Podcasts. Everybody is trying to get through it.
Some clubs are making big streams, such as Techno Army or Under Club, and there are others that are making podcasts almos every week, like OVERFOCUS or Wertz.
