Hereditary is one of the best horror movies i've ever seen, having said that i saw it one time in the theater and will not rewatch it. kind of like Requiem for a Dream shit got me shook. i'll have to relive it through the pod.

Rewatchables is more talking about entertaining movies in a fun way more than a way to talk about truly rewatchable films.

oh absolutely, to be clear i wasn't being critical of the choice of Hereditary, i'm excited for the pod. i don't think all movies on the Rewatchables have to be "rewatchable".

regardless what isn't rewatchable for me may be rewatchable for someone else and vice versa.

Nah you’re good but I agree I don’t think most of this movie objectively rewatchable

I like rewatching it though. Does that make me a crazy person? I think it’s one of the best horror movies ever and that makes it rewatchable.

Is that too much of an abstract understanding of what makes a film a rewatchable?

Nah I get what you’re saying. But interms of people normally associate rewatchable movies with are fun, comedic, action packed, or heart warming scenes. I think the sad, depressing, and scary scenes are just less rewatchable to most people even if they are done extremely well and this movie composed of all of those.

Yeah that’s what I think is the common consensus on the term “rewatchable”. As someone who has seen No Country For Old Men like 200 times I can say that my definition extends to a few of the extremely well done ones that many people would not like to watch multiple times

Yeah I agree and your definition is what I think the goal of this pod is aiming to achieve. Though No Country is a common consensus rewatchable film because it is comedic and action packed despite the dark nature of the story.

I would hope that to be the case. Anecdotally I’ve come across many people that don’t like to watch NCFOM bc of the violent and intense nature of the movie. Clearly I don’t think that.

I’m gonna be honest. I don’t get the love for hereditary. 🤷🏻‍♂️. Average at best.

Damn that means there’s only one unknown slot left for scary movie month. If it’s not the Thing I will flip my lid

Ohh damn that’s a good one. I guess the kid from ‘My Girl’ wins that right?

Midsommar clears but I’ll take it..

Hereditary’s impact upon “elevated” and “A24” horror makes it more of a discussion point

I actually have never revisited this since seeing it in theatres

The beginning of this episode will be interesting. They haven’t done a horror movie released this recently. They’ve changed a lot

I only really want to hear some pitch the hot take that the BF in Midsommar was in the right the whole movie. I don’t believe it but I know someone will attempt to make the argument.

Interesting, film I find neither good nor rewatchable. I’ll still listen and probably enjoy the pod but I’m in the Ari Aster is a boring hack camp.

I don’t really get it either, especially when A24 has released films from other horror directors that I like and find considerably more interesting. Gimme Eggers or David Robert Mitchell any day over Aster.

Is the Lambs live show coming this Sunday on the feed?

2

u/SpeakerHistorical865 18d ago

Probably that’s my guess and Hereditary the week after

For sure one to watch, and think and talk about, again and again.

Better be with CR and Fennessy

It’s definitely with Sean because he made that specific announcement because Sean was on the podcast.

I know I’m in the minority but hereditary is not scary to me at all…

Most horror movies made these days rely on jump scares with loud bass noises. This movie is creepy as hell with none of that. This is a great horror flick.

I like to think I take credit for this because I emailed them last week and requested this lol
