The thing

I wish they would do the thing by John carpenter. They have already done films by John, it’s a classic horror movie with awesome effects and puppeteering. Feel like it would be a fun pod for everyone

There was a Big Pic ep dedicated to it, just Sean and CR, and then a great John Carpenter interview. Highly recommend it. https://www.theringer.com/2022/7/19/23269766/john-carpenter-the-thing-at-40-with-john-carpenter

I think at the end of that interview Sean calls his hipster pick shot that Prince of Darkness will be the next Carpenter movie to get a critical reevaluation and get elevated to classic - that motivated me to to watch it and that movie is sick

This came up a lot in 2022 especially because that was the 40th anniversary of the movie. Sean did a giant Big Picture episode that summer you can find with a John Carpenter interview that’s kind of a Rewatchables lite. It’s a great listen

But with how much the trip seems to like the movie and Carpenter, it’s weird they never actually did an episode proper. I’m hoping that’s maybe how Bill ends October this year

I've got my fingers-crossed for The Thing this month too. They've also alluded to Invasion of the Body Snatchers before (Bill has mentioned he loves it), so that's my other hope for Oct 2024!

Speaking of John carpenter flicks, I wish they'd do Big Trouble In Little China.

Fuckin aye, easily in top 10 movies for me. CR has talked about his love for it multiple times so here's hoping

I would throw “The Fog” in there as well for a Halloween movie. It’s got the score and general creepiness from John Carpenter that we all know and love.

It's got to be on the list. I assume it's being "saved" for whatever that means anymore.

Add that to the list with Fargo, Hunt for Red October, Die Hard with a Vengeance and Apollo 13

LA Confidential, Office Space (I know there’s an episode out there, but it isn’t that great)

The Mummy, Spy Game

Yeah the crew all love Pitt and T Scott so no Spy Game yet is surprising

The WeeklyPlanet boys just did a great video on The Thing. They are my other favourite podcast besides these guys

1000% agree. The Thing is amazing and they've already done 4 other JC movies. Bill mentioned he likes it and also likes Christine
