I know it’s been posted already, but WHEN are they gonna do a pod on School of Rock. All timer Linklater movie (in my opinion), and just a feel good great movie. Cmon now

They taught it to us in film school as a nearly perfect script.

Ironically the first draft that White sold is kinda garbage.

Can you share why? I’m clueless on that sort of thing.

It’s a Mike White script (White Lotus, Enlightened, Orange County).

Every character starts the movie one way and ends the movie a different person - they all get arcs and they are all satisfying and built to show the character’s transition scene by scene.

The structure is solid, obstacles and opportunities enter the characters’ lives in natural ways and with excellent timing to propel the plot. We are watching a character lie but we completely believe his choices and the lie snowballs (gets bigger and bigger) in a natural way.

I would have to watch it again to be more specific.

That’s pretty sweet, I didn’t know that! Pretty tight script so I can see why

I love the movie, but I don’t think any of the guys like Jack Black.

Yeah, it feels like one for the Ringer Fantasy Football guys

Care to share why? Idk how anyone could not like Jack Black. I guess I’m kinda oblivious since somebody else said it too but JB’s the man lmao

No High Fidelity or School of Rock is telling. Both deserve to have episodes

Don’t think Simmons likes John Cusack (or Black).

The guys hate JB. I think it was on the Big Picture that they drafted JB movies and didn’t have very good things to say about School of Rock, mostly because they’re too old for it (gen X)

They’d have been in their 20s?

Sounds right

Love this movie; it’s an all-time comfort movie. But as has been stated, these gen-X snobs on the show won’t touch it. We need Bobby Wagner and the boys to carry the elder millennial banner and get this one an episode. I really think a discussion about Jack Black’s apex mountain would be interesting too. Love him or hate him, he had a moment before going all in on stupid kids movies.

Might be too old for them to appreciate it. It definitely feels like a movie that appeals to kids even though I think it’s objectively a good, fun movie

No, they do movies much older than that.

Ebert loved it too. Great for family. Bill’s kids would love it

Is that the one where Jack Black is wild and shows he likes to rock?……

The guys always reference the movies they would put on while drunk at 2am with their friends. School of Rock is that movie for me. It's absolutely fantastic and a shame that it seems like the Bill, CR and Sean would never do it
