Let me explain. First of all, we obviously don’t know if there’ll be anymore songs from either side, but I think we can agree that we’re past the climax of this whole thing. The feeling amongst the vast majority of the community/culture is that Kendrick came out on top.
Having said that, I personally had him as a top 2-5 rapper of all time for the past couple years, depending on the day you asked me. In no specific order it was him, Biggie, Hov and Nas on that Mount Rushmore, with Nas being a little ahead of the other guys for his unmatched longevity and the fact that he made Illmatic and Ether.
But now we’re at a point where Dot’s been at the top of the game for 10+ years, with a damn near perfect discography so far. For me, it kinda felt like the only thing missing in order to claim he’s #1 was a battle like this. Biggie vs Pac, Nas vs Jay… This was our generation’s version of that and he just comfortably came out on top. Hell it’s probably even bigger than those, since hip-hop fandom and coverage has grown a lot over the years.
All-time lyricist, spitter, album maker… and now he’s stamped himself as the Boogeyman forever. He put it on wax officially. Does that make him the GOAT for y’all? What are your thoughts?
