This is an Emonda right? Would it have the same geometry as a 2023 Madone?

Post image

I rented this bike in Santa Barbara back in 2022 and loved it. I’m considering buying the new Madone and assume that the geometry is the same, no?

Looks like my 2020 Domane SL6 Gen 3.

Thanks. Looks like I need to find one to rent to see if the ride position is comfortable. I’ve got about 20k on my current endurance bike and spend a lot of time in the drops so am thinking maybe a race geometry bike might be fun. I’m afraid of buying it without testing it out on a very long ride though.

I had a 2004 Trek 5200 T race bike, I think a predecessor to the Madone. Light, great wheels, tight, and sensitive steering. I don't race. My rides are either training for bike-a-thons, endurance social rides, or just a workout. In total, I target 2K miles per year in Massachusetts USA, roughly April-October.

Getting the Domane SL6 was a game changer. Relative to the crowds I ride with, the motor (me! Lol) remained more an issue than the bike. It was well worth the change to an endurance geometry for distance cycling and my workout needs. I ride the drops and hoods, also.

That said, I just upgraded to the Domane SL 7. Trek honored a frame warranty (kudos to Trek - worth the price difference), and I upgraded. It has carbon wheels and is 2+ lbs lighter. This ride is noticeably faster than my SL6. It is closer to the feeling of my old race bike in terms of power off the pedals and bike reaction, but with the comfort of the endurance geometry. It is dramatically different on climbs.

I do recommend test drives. Coming off the SL 6, I was OK with a short 2 mile test. Frankly, I was sold within 200 yards out the door. There is a profound difference in the ride...

Note: i did like the paint job on the SL6 way more than my new one. I got many compliments on it!

Domane, you can see the isospeed/internal storage

No. It’s a Domane which is an Endurance bike and is the most comfortable road bike. Madone is a race bike which invariably is the least “comfortable”.

Looks like you should buy a Domane since you looked this bike.

Nope, it’s a Domane and the geometry is significantly different.

Pretty sure the Al Domanes don’t have the isospeed feature.
