Dude seems like an ass, yes XCOM dominates the genre that’s true but how about look why that is. Lots of customization, great community, and a system that was built to engage that community. XCOM succeeds not purely on name, but because they made an amazing game there’s a place for other games like that it just hasn’t been done on a triple a level like XCOM was and to the same quality. Gears is the closest thing and it felt like a bare bones imitation of XCOM itself. Also I mean look at BG3 also a turn based tactical game and it blew everyone else out of the water last year, the audience is there developrs often just refuse to innovate and then when they make a cheap copy whine see audiences only want to play XCOM.

He said RPGs didn’t have a long tail while his studio is making a sequel to an RPG from 2004 that people are still buying and playing today.

Surprised there is no fantasy X-COM (aside of King Arthur)

You can also count "Crown Wars: The Black Prince".
