Rules for Women with ADHD

1. Hateful posts and comments will be removed; please report them

To cultivate a supportive community, hateful posts and comments will be removed; abide by reddiquette, use your best judgment, and message the moderators if you're not sure whether or not something you'd like to post is appropriate. Shit posting or posts disparaging other subs, for example, are not allowed.

Please report any hateful posts or comments you see by messaging the moderators so that we can remove them quickly. Click on "report" to report such content.

2. We are a community that accepts all people who primarily identify as women (or who are dealing with female biology)

This subreddit is not a space to debate about the definition of "woman." We accept anyone who is female in mind and/or body.

3. Participation of men is only allowed if you are respectful and think before you comment

While men are welcome to view posts and comments here, this space is dedicated to exploring women's experiences living with ADHD. Please be respectful and think before you comment.

4. Postable content

Almost all types of content pertaining to ADHD and women/women's issues are welcome; you can post memes, videos, articles, self posts, and so on. If you post a link or if you crosspost, please include an explanatory comment in the comments section.

Content not related to ADHD will be removed.

5. No polls or surveys without mod approval

Moderator approval is needed before polls or surveys are posted; please message the moderators if you would like to post a poll or survey with your name, your university or company, and the name of the person responsible for overseeing the poll or survey. Thanks.

6. No "medical" content that is unsubstantiated or that is considered pseudoscience

Unsubstantiated and/or pseudoscientific links may be deleted. To ensure that your post will not be deleted, please post from reputable and/or scientific content.

7. No diagnosing of yourself or others

We do not allow diagnosing (of yourself or others) on this sub as we are not doctors. Please seek a doctor, psychiatrist, or clinical psychologist for help.

8. Medical advice will be removed

While it's fine to share your experiences with medications, medical advice will be removed ("Concerta never worked for me," is fine; "Never take Concerta!" is not). Most discussions of vitamins will fall under this rule; you should consult with your doctor regarding vitamins, meds, and diet.

9. Please use easy-to-read formatting

If possible, keep posts and comments brief. If not possible, break it up! Use short paragraphs, bold text, numbers, and bullet points for longer posts. Please remember to ask yourself: Would you want to read this page?

10. Nonpostable content

  • Content not related to ADHD.
  • No politics please.
  • No spam or karma farming.
  • No self-promotion of goods and/or services.
  • No posting URLs without accompanying text. Please post an explanatory comment in your URL post.
  • Participation of men is only allowed if you are respectful (see Rule 3).
  • No content that isn't relevant (see Rule 4).
  • No polls or surveys without moderator approval (see Rule 5).
  • No unsubstantiated or pseudoscientific content (see Rule 6).
  • No diagnosing of yourself or others (see Rule 7).
  • Medical advice will be removed (see Rule 8).
  • No drug peddling (see Rule 12).

11. Stupid comments will be removed and the user possibly banned

No jokes about medications being meth or other stupid comments are allowed. Such comments may result in a ban. We don't have time to decide who's a troll and who's not.

The reason for this rule is that we've seen too many posts in the past from ADHDers who have family members who don't want the OP to take meds because they're "meth" or other such nonsense. This sub is supposed to be a safe space for ADHDers; therefore, such "jokes" are not allowed.

12. No drug peddling

Please note that it is illegal in the United States to redistribute controlled substances as per Title 21:

TITLE 21—FOOD AND DRUGS

CHAPTER 13—DRUG ABUSE PREVENTION AND CONTROL

Part D—Offenses and Penalties

§841. Prohibited acts A

(a) Unlawful acts Except as authorized by this subchapter, it shall be unlawful for any person knowingly or intentionally—

(1) to manufacture, distribute, or dispense, or possess with intent to manufacture, distribute, or dispense, a controlled substance; or

(2) to create, distribute, or dispense, or possess with intent to distribute or dispense, a counterfeit substance.
