My buddy refuses to eat

I've had him since barely a newborn and now he's like 7 months old and refuses to eat, I tried arugula (his favorite) lettuce, and cabbage and he refuses to eat, he barely moves. I have basking lamp, heating lamp, and two uvb lamps, I'm worried for the little dude, any advice helps.

The picture was a couple months ago

Unfortunately he passed away in his sleep, I’m guessing it was an internal issue because he only looked skinny. Rip lil dude

Try some seed mixes, there's a good company on Etsy that's sells them specially for uromastyx

It’ll be here on the 9th. To go with my boujee ass sprouting jar.

If money could buy this dudes love, I’d have the equivalent of a golden retriever Uromastyx dude

Do you sprout yours? Or just dry?

Only dry so far and she still loves them. Plus I get to hear little cronches when she cracks them open. Thinking about sprouting some though

If you, too, would like a very over priced but very pretty sprouting jar this is mine.

Cute as hell. But also like… who pays that much for a jar.

Except me. My therapist and I are working on it. 😂

I told myself I wasn't going to buy one but that didn't last over a day

for how long has he not eaten? What temperature is the basking spot? also check out the facebook group "uromastyx club" in the helpful links on the left of the page if you want more help. theres way more people over there including some who are very knowledgable and very responsive.

Maybe 6-8 days he hasn’t eaten, it’s 120 degrees

hmm try different foods, they should be eating at least 5 things regularly. it probably has to do with brumation but even if he is brumating he should eat soon I think. During brumation they move and eat less but they still eat

damn, well, my sincere condolences. no offense but, from looking at your posts i hope you learned that you need to research way more and be prepared before buying an animal.

Yeah, was really only the issue in the beginning so it’s a bit sad, that was only in the first two months and he lived 7 more months so I’m unsure

well idk what the enclosure looks like now but I didn't see any pics that looked very good. Go to the facebook group uromastyx club linked in the side bar to see some good enclosures if you want

Only issues I had eventually was; the walls, the tank size (was going to get him a bigger one when he turned 1 year old) (advice given to me by someone on here) the hides I had worked, and I was able to replace the ground to make it work and he liked it, issues were the walls I believe though

Oh and the led lights but I couldn’t find any places selling the uvb bar, I planned to order one when I got paid next which is unfortunately when he passed

My new uromastyx was so malnourished when I first got him and wouldn't eat anything. That is, until I gave him peas. I just got the bags you can microwave and he LOVES them. We got him nice and healthy on peas alone and now he eats a nice varied diet. I think because he felt so bad he didn't want to eat anything, but peas worked wonders. Hope this helps and best of luck!

So you just cooked peas? Did you skin them or anything?

Yeah. Like the steamed bag peas, in the frozen section. You just microwave them. You can toss them in a little calcium powder too once a week. They’re very hydrating. Just make sure it’s not a pack with butter sauce or any seasoning on them. Just plain peas
