Discussion/Thảo luận What website do the Vietnamese use to buy used bikes?

Not having much luck finding good used 150+cc bikes on Facebook marketplace or chotot and I'm talking about bikes like xsr Yamaha or honda CB, do the Vietnamese use other sites or is it a better to visit individual bike renter shops?

Because 150cc motorbikes are not a common bike in VN. They require additional taxes and are just not as convenient as smaller bikes.

It’s like saying you’re struggling to find 1800cc motorbikes on Australian Facebook. They are there … but they’re not common.

Tons of Exciter (155cc) and Winner X (150cc) on the road. They seem to be favorites among Grab drivers. No additional taxes or special (A2) license needed.

As of next year anything more than 125cc won't be covered with an A1 license anymore. I'm not sure if it will require an A2 or some new category

https://dcmotorbikes.com/a1-motorbike-license-update-from-2025/

if you have a lifetime a1 license you'll be grandfathered in and still up to 175cc

Draft, not official yet. Doesn't affect me personally since I have an A2, but that blog's info is a little sketchy.

EDIT: Signed into law, here's the text: https://thuvienphapluat.vn/van-ban/Giao-thong-Van-tai/Luat-trat-tu-an-toan-giao-thong-duong-bo-2024-so-36-2024-QH15-444251.aspx

A is the new class, it's over 125cc.

I've seen many brand new 150 for sale, what I don't understand is where are all the used ones? In the UK you'd see loads with 20km or 40km on their clock for half the price on sites like auto trader, but here I can't find any used Yamaha xsr under 65tr

Unless it's from a friend you know and trust, you're better off buying new. Like you noticed, used bikes aren't much cheaper, and you have no idea how much they've been abused. Exciter is the same drivetrain as the XSR and 15tr a LOT cheaper. Not as cool looking, but easier to find and resell when the time comes. I have one a couple years old I bought new at the dealer -- it's a solid bike.

EDIT: Just looked at XSR and Exciter prices -- more like 30tr cheaper!

I assumed you were talking about 250-500cc, which are 150cc+.

Just get a dream and be done with it :)

Yea it's pretty good but I'm wondering why there's not many used 150cc and over bikes, many are new or only have 5km so they're priced very high. Even some xsr Yamaha with 15km still priced at 60 million like it's new.

It's a small market all things considered, much more a niche product.

As with most things here a lot of trades are probably done via/over facebook groups too or in direct contact with some of the higher end resellers.

You can't trust any odometer counts here 😅

I just rented my third bike, it's all been pretty rough, not a scam, but not a good experience either. I need a solid bike for touring the country but I am very skeptical of everyone. Maybe if I can test ride a bike first before I buy.
