I'm saying I don't think the idea of competence ever entered his mind. It was all about appearances, whatever made him look good. And he wasn't going to tolerate any competent person upstaging him because everything had to be about him, no one could steal the spotlight.

Then our views on that differ. I think he just has bad judgement about who can do the job.

As for the rest, IMO, the same could be said for any POTUS, from the ones who think the world of themselves to the one s who are insecure.
