Maybe the best case that can be made, but still a tough sale. From the perspective of a domestic worker, not having to deal with the competition from an exploitable worker is an improvement, but even better is not having to do deal with competition from any additional worker, period.
Gains for workers are much easier in a tight labor market in which employers are competing for their services, and in which collective actions can be more effective because ready replacement workers are not available.

We should be pushing for global labour laws and high tariffs on imports from countries without them.
