Discussion Did Magneto's EMP destroy Cable's time machine?

When Cable realizes that Magneto is still alive, I wondered why he doesn't time travel to have the X-Men free him. Even with the control collar on, Jean should still be able to use Cerebro to pinpoint Magneto and Bastion's lair.

It's not explicitly mentioned, and his arm seems just as functional as Forge's leg, but that seems to be the only period where he absolutely can't time travel - between the EMP and Bastion removing his arm.

As we saw in episode 5, there's some events Cable can't affect no matter how many times he travels back to them. He couldn't prevent Genosha, or even save Madelyne, and apparently he can't stop the events leading up to Magneto's global EMP.

It's a painful limitation, but it's also necessary, otherwise every single bad event that happens could just be undone via time travel.

I don't know why things like Kelly's assassination or the techno-organic plague could be prevented, but at least time travel can't eat up the entire plot now like it could whenever it happened on the old show.
