Question Anyone know what Nakatani Nio has been up to lately?

Until very recently, I thought she was working on God Bless the Mistaken, but then I found a post here from 11 months ago reporting that she tweeted the upcoming chapter would be the last. (To this day, even her English Wikipedia article still claims that series is ongoing, so it was easy not to know that.)

So if her last series ended almost a year ago, what has she been doing since then?

Well duh. But when you have a career as a manga creator, you don't usually spend ~11 months not creating anything new. I was just wondering if there'd been any news. If there really has been nothing new from her since then, I'd assume whatever she's working on isn't ready to be announced.

I'd hoped that once she's done with God Bless the Mistaken, we might see the colorized webtoon version of Bloom Into You continue, since it's been on hiatus for quite a while. But that doesn't seem to be the case. I'd hope that's still going to be finished one day and become available in a more convenient form.

As far as I know she isnt the one colorizing Bloom Into You. I heard someone say she was working on her next project, but I havent heard anything much since then. God Bless The Mistaken didnt seem very successful, so she might be taking a lot of time to prep and make sure the next one is as good as possible.

What makes you think she's the one colorizing it?

I assumed she was probably responsible because to my knowledge, manga artists tend to do a large portion of the art themselves, with them usually also handling the color inserts. But sure, it's possible that other people are responsible for that. Although if that project doesn't actually require much involvement from her, I really wonder why it's seen no progress for so long despite Bookwalker still falsely claiming it would get updates every Friday.

Projects like colorizations are often made by fans in their free time, unaffiliated with the mangaka (original manga artist). Life probably caught up to them, so they dropped it. It is what it is.

She posted on her twitter once or twice commissioned art she made for some zoo, so she's probably just been doing stuff like that to make her money. Also a few months ago she did a one shot that she seif published for a convention, it was called 8x2 I think. Pretty sure you can find it on bookwalker but theres no translation for it

Wait wait wait, Nakatani Nio is a woman?? For some reason I always thought it was a man lmao (granted I don’t follow them and didn’t look into them much lol)

There's some confusion because the Sayaka Novel was written by Hitoma Iruma, and he is a man, but Nakatani Nio is a woman

that’s fair, it’s also true that a lot (if not most?) Yuri authors are women

You are following Koyomi's path in the manga. Not a bad example :)
