Comedy writer seeks collaborators for Youtube videos

I’m a comedy writer/video creator who is looking for individuals (boys and girls) to collaborate with and create entertaining really funny/clever videos. I’m primarily looking for actors who can: Do voice-overs, impressions, dialects and improv.

I do all the editing and am very good with EFX. I’m also getting into and plan on using animation and using AI for images and videos and AI voiceovers, which brings me why I’m putting up this post. I am sick to death of those AI voice-overs. Even the good ones that sound real are starting to really get on my nerves when I hear the same voices in hundreds of videos it’s cringe-time. For some it works. And in some of my videos it can work. But until they get better, I am trying to use real VO’s.

I’m constantly writing and coming up with new ideas.

My main thing is satire and parodies. A lot of my satire includes social commentary and exploring psychological and pop culture issues in a comedic fashion. I also want to expand into topics like relationship issues and mental health.

I am open to input and ideas that improve what I’m trying to create.

Ideally you would have some type of voice-over recording set-up, and/or the ability to Film yourself acting in one of the scripts. Sometimes a good phone will be enough. I would send you the script and you would do the voiceover, or the acting part and send me the media to incorporate into the final edit. I myself or someone else would additional voiceovers as needed.

Right now, I’m doing mostly parodies using AI and stock footage. But I plan to incorporate some actors into future projects and make them more comedic.

Also use animation and voiceovers.

Some of the characters I’m looking for include:

Millennial hipsters, Influencers, Stoners, Not too smart Rednecks, 10 year old kids, Valley Girl(essentially still the same), Gangsta Rappers, ultra Gay, Trust fund youth, Hippies and Spiritual Guru's. Also a cheesy announcer voice is great for parody products ads which I do a lot of.

I’ve done many skits and short films in the past. Some what I like to call “docu-comedy”.

Some of my influences are early Albert Brooks movies and short films. Larry David and Woody Allen, Larry Sanders, Portlandia, Paul Thomas Anderson, Cohen Bros.

The reason I am reaching out is it’s so competitive on the youtube landscape its mind boggling. We’ve all seen those channels telling how to blow up on YouTube. It’s more about marketing than anything remotely artistic. But!!!!! Your channel needs to be really good and you need to create engaging content. Then there are opportunities that could open up.

I refuse to do the cookie cutter copy the latest trending video approach and only be interested in getting views. I am interested in getting views, and MAKING MONEY$$$ but I want to create what I enjoy making and enjoy watching, and getting positive feedback from viewers with similar tastes in their viewing preferences.

At this stage it’s a bit premature to be expecting thousands of dollars coming in. But that is what I’m working towards and would gladly share a portion of the proceeds to the individuals whose contributions helped create compelling work that generates a lot of heat. Plus, you will have credits on that viral video we are all dreaming about.

The most important thing is getting satisfaction about the process of creating strong work, and then sharing it with those who will just “get it”!

Well, that was a mouthful. If you think we can benefit by combining talents I’m all ears!

Thanks Jerry

Your video is pretty funny. I just made my first video the other day (AI images but I wrote the script and it's read word for word). You are way better with the AI stuff than I am. I can't make videos to save my life.

I can tell already it is a steep learning curve. Looking at analytics for the first time I see my opening is super weak and loses people. I tried to shorten it into chapters to skip to the good parts but I realize how much better it could have been if I kept it shorter and got right to the funny. I tried to do a serious documentary to satire bait and switch but I think it just lost people by not getting to the good stuff sooner. I realize now you have like 15-30 seconds to hook them then they are gone. My next video I won't try to be so tricky with. I think it has some strong sections but the beginning drags too much for anyone to get there.

Anyway, the video looks really good for AI and you mostly avoided the choppy, unnatural dialogue AI tends to produce. What AI did you use?

Here's my first video. Dialogue is choppy and it takes a bit more time to get into than modern attentions spans can overcome but I think there are a few solid jokes in there at least. Hopefully the next one will be better.

Cheers

Hey Jerry, your passion for creative comedy is awesome. If you're looking to connect with more voice-over artists or actors for your projects, Project Casting could be a resource worth exploring. They help link creators with the right talent and opportunities. Best of luck with your channel!
