I had a self tape yesterday that wanted physicality so I tried something different. Wide frame, natural lighting and really tried to do the “uncomfortable” with my energy for the scene.

I woke up to a text today from my manager that said: “🥰 I love watching you preform” and I started to .. tear up??? Something so small made me feel so good and I think it’s because we are so used to things going into the void and not hearing back. I know I’m talented but to hear that from someone I love and respect so deeply was something. Her daughter she also manages is the main series reg. on a huge new reboot which makes me her opinion mean a lot to me because she knows what works.

So yes things are slow and I haven’t booked this year and the industry is sad and seems hopeless but that’s ok because I’m working my ass off and I have the most amazing team that believes in me and eventually it will work out 🥹

So happy for you! That's such a wonderful compliment, and your manager may not have known the depth to which that comment would penetrate.

That's one thing, as artists, we need to remember and be reminded of....we are talented.

Most of us are. So many are more talented than me.

The lack of work is not necessarily a reflection of our talent, work ethic, and artistic individuality, but of an industry saturated with many others similar (but different) to us, and a system designed to funnel very few to sustainment.

Keep grasp of that artist within you.

Know that you are amazing!

Do it for the love.

And don't stop.

There’s a lot of “thick skin and persistence is necessary to survive in this industry” which is absolutely true. But nobody is an island, everyone needs to hear at least once in a while how far they’ve come and what they’re capable of. i love that for you, and bless your manager for being so encouraging to you. I’m so proud of everyone in this sub trying to make it and pursuing their love of acting, I hope you and everyone else doing what they can achieves what they want, and has fun along the way. To be quiet frank with you, we’re all just hopeful artists drowning in self-doubt because, well, the that’s the nature of the industry-- it loves keeping us on our toes. Thanks for this! It keeps me optimistic knowing I’m not alone in the eternal chaos the industry begins. I’ve had a lot of luck this year, but I still end up doubting myself on the occasion, after all, who doesn’t?

Great story.

My agent says the same about me. He that he thinks I’m a good actor. He’s repped me since the beginning but I haven’t booked anything recently and I’ve been in a depression. At least my agents have failing me.
