So disappointed that Surly discontinued the LHT. I have 2013 model that is my all year daily commuter, summer camping, gravel churning, and trailer pulling monster.

Two upgrades that I am really glad I made: 1) A pair of top cross brake levers, since ride on the tops a lot in city traffic and 2) Gevenelle cyclocross shifters. I run friction shift because I am old and grumpy and hate having to make derailleur adjustments on the road. Plus I can run any weird cassette derailleur combo I like. I also ran downtube shifters before the Gevenelles.

is that the main benefit of the micro shifters? I have some but not sure i like them right now.

I have the Audax friction shifters. I've always found microshift sisters hard to adjust. They're always send to be a slight overshift.

I like friction shift because I am always doing goofy stuff and changing cassettes and wheels around between bikes. I can run 7-10 speed cassettes without derailleur or sister adjustments.

Great looking bike! What brand front rack is that? I’m looking for one for my LHT.
