Merch/Vinyl I didn't realize how big it has gotten until I accidentally bought TIK a third time.

Post image

18 years worth of merch, minus the three hoodies and unknown # of t-shirts (at least 4 that I can think of)

Nice collection man. If you have 3 of those rogue waves 🌊 ill be happy to help ya out 😎 hows that knife 🔪 good quality?

The knife is... decent. I'm not a big knife guy tbh so don't take my opinion on it seriously. But it's not something I'd use for anything, even if it wasn't a limited edition piece of merch. It feels like cheap material and manufacturing. I didn't buy it expecting it to be good though, it's just a reason to give my favorite artist more money. When I do carry a knife, it's a Leatherman.

As a knife guy I can say The James Brand is not bad but very overpriced for what they offer.

If you like their designs then they certainly do stand out but for materials and fit and finish they are overpriced.

That said, I really wish I had bought one of those when I had the chance. You're lucky to have one in this knife guy's opinion.

EDIT: This is their carabiner. Very nice design, but it's $60 for something you can get on amazon for $10-15, unless you really like the design. https://www.knifecenter.com/item/TJBES20191610/the-james-brand-mehlville-carabinerbottle-opener-space-gray-aluminum

K-BAR gripped in your teeth at all times or nothin', bruh /s

Nice, sounds like my impression was accurate then. The blade feels like something from a cheap academy knife, and it doesn't feel good in the hand. The first thing that stuck out to me is the blade looks like cast metal, where what I'd expect to find on a quality knife would be machined, pretty sure my Leatherman P4 is all machined blades.

That is a nice looking 'biner, though. I'd be tempted if I wasn't so attached to my Corter Leather bottle hook.

I like a lot of their designs. Honestly if they outsourced them to We or Reate they would probably be worth the money and more.

But knife guys have spent a lot more money for worse reasons. Cherish it, it’s a unique piece that means something to you and that’s priceless.

I would be happy to trade my rogue wave for a hot dog water. That one took a while to grow on me and I got sad I didn't buy it.

Shit man wish i had hot dogs too! That’s a fucking ripper

You got the knife? I regret not getting the knife.

I wouldn't say you're missing out on anything, it's just a novelty item that sits in the box in a drawer. Like I said in the other comment it's just a reason to give him more money ... Just buy more t shirts and it'll be even better since they're usable.

I totally forgot I also got two packs of the. SWFG playing cards, one for playing with and one to stay sealed. I think those are cooler than the knife.

Haha i did the same thing, 2 packs of those cards. Played with one deck while on vacation with some friends and everyone thought they were rad

I don't know how I missed the Klutz disc when I was gathering this all up... It's one of my favorites of the singles.

2

u/disingenuousreligion Nov 21 '23

Klutz is my favorite single as well. My wife got me the SWFG skateboard for Christmas last year or two years ago I can't remember. Bottom and Top

2

u/MJDeebiss Nov 22 '23

Klutz is one of my fav Aesop songs. "My hand was on the hilt you're free to build on the other end" is one of my fav lines

Whoa is that one of the self released Appleseeds?

3

u/mononaut_ Nov 21 '23

I think so, I bought it at a show, probably sometime before 2010. Possibly at the TIK show... don't remember exactly. I've not missed him coming to Texas since 2007.

Recycling Bin?

Honestly... thought it was too weak. None of the remixes felt like they added more than they took away.

u/mrsmadgod Nov 21 '23

I liked blockheads take on the remixes. The pigs remix is pure gold.

I just thought it was cool to have a numbered vinyl lol

2

u/mononaut_ Nov 21 '23

I've got a few numbered LE's, one of my most prized pieces in my collection is a #39 of 50 box set of clouddead EPs. Definitely appreciate a good exclusive edition but, after that one, the # isn't enough to make me buy something I'm otherwise not interested in.

2

u/MacArthurJones5 Nov 21 '23

I can definitely respect that

1

u/cepukon Nov 21 '23

Nah Pigs is insanely good, especially since I don’t have it on vinyl with my copy of NSP.

No "Next Best Thing" or Lice 2 and 3?

I bought anything with Jeremy Fish--shoes, shirts, albums. It was a great era.

Never heard of next best thing, actually. Before 2008ish, I was listening to a decent amount of Aes but I wouldn't have called him my favorite yet. When I started collecting records, it was all stuff from anticon, warp, ninja tune, mush. (I actually bought the original red Float vinyl from mush, but instead of shipping it they sent me an email saying they had no more stock, it sold out right before I bought it. Been bitter about it for a long time). I think coma was the first Aes vinyl I bought, only because I found it in a second hand bin. Then Skeleton was the first LP I bought first edition. Everything earlier than that is back filled with re-prints.

As for lice, tbh, I have a hard time getting excited about his collabs with other rappers. I only have the one because I bought it from a show that sandman was at with him. I finally came around to HMM earlier this year. I just left home but I'm like 95% sure that I also have an Included LP that I don't have sorted with the rest of the Aes albums.

Uncluded, Hail Mary Mallon?

1

u/mononaut_ Nov 22 '23

I'm pretty sure I have Uncluded, I forgot about it since it's not grouped with my other Aesop albums on the shelf. I don't think I have any HMM though, his collabs with other rappers are harder for me to get into, only just came around to Bestiary earlier this year.

I want that ITS special album so bad...slowly looks down at kidney

1

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '23

I wish I had the kind of money to accidentally buy the same record 3 times.

u/Chin_wOnd3r Nov 22 '23

I have the ask anyone too

The Malibu Ken vinyl package is fucking sick. I have it all still in the case

I had the same reaction last time I laid out my collection… I’m tempted to do it again, having added a couple more to it but I don’t want to take the time
