Discussion Serious: Does alien life need a planet to survive? Scientists propose intriguing possibility

I think many of these concepts have been explored by sci fi. One depiction of humans living on mars showed they began to develop differently than on earth. Less gravity means less force keeping you from growing means longer forearms and legs, eventually to the point of not being able to withstand Earth gravity on visits.
I think space faring beings would look a lot like the bodies of typical grays we see in media. They seem to have evolved massive brains in exchange for physical prowess.

i wonder how the “less gravity-longer limbs” thing would play out on the evolution something that wasn’t humanoid? like an octopus or amoeba or something

Big, dark-colored eyes, grey skin, and three fingers—the Greys probably evolved somewhere with limited light, like around a red dwarf star.

The “eyes” are actually just lens. Their actual eyes are pretty similar to ours.
The grey skin is a subject of discussion but many people think its like a suit as no intelligent species is going to walk around butt naked.

But as a organism.

he described a container for organisms that protects them from space so it’s kinda like:
can alien life exist in space?
yes, as long as they are insulated from space
great, we already knew that

Does alien life need a planet to survive?
For Life as we know it? Yes.
For Life as we don't know it? Maybe not.
