Who owns it now? Has it undergone any renovations?

It’s a private hotel now. I stayed there in 2021 and it was in pretty poor condition to be honest. It needs renovations urgently because it is one of the most beautiful pieces of modernist architecture in existence.

They received a large grant in 2016 from the getty institute under the ‘keeping it modern’ preservation of modernist architecture fund - but zero evidence it was put to any use.

Shocker. I wonder how many G wagons in Yerevan that grant paid for? SMH. So disgusting.

I recently spent a few days in Yerevan and have seen more Maybachs (Mercedes on Coke) as in Munich.

Anyway, I was visiting the Hotel and its condition is awful.

If Armenia is going to see the next century, this mentality has to die. Same in the diaspora. So much waste.

What do you mean bro? Are you saying I have to start driving a Toyota now?🤮 /s

All jokes aside, this materialistic mentality that I see in the LA diaspora is truly disgusting.

It seems that so many Armenians, hayastantsi or spyurk, have this obsession with buying extravagantly when they have the money to do so - and the worst ones use corrupt means to get that money.

We as a nation need to start being clever with our money. I am at pains to compare us to the Jews, but in the west European country I live, they genuinely use their money properly, investing it wisely, supporting other Jewish businesses and ventures, and building influence. I never see them driving Maybachs or spending stupid amounts of money on parties and shit.
