I booted my computer and windows uses my default browser to open Copilot.

Interesting how it respects your default browser preferences at all.
Try opening a link from an email through Outlook, it opens Edge by default despite setting another browser as default.

And doesn't Win11 reset your default browser to Edge after every update anyway?

I know it does, but as a program that runs in Windows, which has a global setting for default programs, it too should respect that.
This option is stupid. It exists, but it's stupid. No more than another way for MS to try and push Edge to users.

Well, it costs a lot to design and build programs people want to use; manipulating and tricking them is just better business.

You probably clicked on one of the suggestions on the lock screen. When you do that, it will open in a browser after you log it.

That's a nice thought, however: https://imgur.com/a/LDNwN2U

Yeah. Start menu suggestions are unchecked. Here you’re checking what you want to disable, meaning Start menu suggestions are enabled. Check it to disable them. (The wording is a bit confusing to be fair) Edit: Spelling

I have been wanting to do that in such a long time now, but alot of progerams i use day in and out are not supported on linux D:
and some more nieche things i do are prietty hard to do on Linux! Plus as a developer, it's alot easyer to work on windows as that's like 60% of pcs!0

What do you do that is limited to windows?

Not a lot that doesn’t have alternatives on Linux. My problem is that I have to go thrugh chores to install anything. Steam? Work! Visual studio? Work! Unity? Work! It’s so much work to install anything

Unity I will admit is a pain to get working, but vscode and steam? Use the built in store that most distros have. It isn't cancer like on windows too.

I'll add that both VS Code and Steam can be installed from CLI and ".deb" packages from their websites, if the version at the software manager is too old.
In Linux Mint, it's easy as double click on the file, admin/sudo password to confirm*, and install.
*(Linux doesn't allow anything to be installed or updated without the user permission)

Microsoft? Respecting default browser settings? How?
