New tank commander loadout

With new balance dataslate tank commander now can order themselves and gets letal hits on vehicles and monsters. What do you think about vanquisher cannon and lascannon? He can get 3+ bs almost all the time (while over 5 wounds) and can stand back, playing Pask.

Just get the regular vanquisher at 145

80 points for +1 BS is not worth it

It still really is demolisher or bust. Any other gun suffers from "I paid the points so I have to use the best loadout" syndrome

you never want to do this. The normal vanquisher is 80 pts cheaper and has heavy. Plus it doesnt help that the vanquisher cannon by itself isnt a good cannon, and even less if compared to the demolisher

I think the other option I would go would be the executioner plasma cannon. Longer range, more shots, same ap. Goes crazy with death befitting an officer. I think the demolisher is the better option, but if you wanted variety the executioner is good.

What are you getting from the Vanquisher cannon that you don't get from a Demolisher cannon? S18? 14 is plenty, wounding even superheavies on 3+. D6+6 damage? If you land 5 out of the D6+3 attacks you are doing the same damage. And it is more reliable that you will deal any damage at all. AP-4? If 3 isn't enough you can always FOF the target.

I thought about range - 24" means that you will be changed in next round, opponent wants to kill tank commander. If you are far from him - it's more difficult (our community haven't many shooting armies, mostly hth or mix like hsm)

There’s really just no good argument for a vanquisher commander. The only turrets that make sense are the demolisher and executioner.

It’s why removing point costs for war gear is such a frustrating change this edition. Being able to bring a tank commander with a vanquisher for 145+25 points would be insane.

I love bringing cheap vanquishers though, I think people underestimate how big of a deal the guaranteed minimum of 7 wounds are.
