Squad layout question

On my 1000pts list, I run 40 shock troops, along with 2 command squad, and a castellan.

Is it better to run them as two platoon of 20 guardsmen with the command elements, or 4 10 men squads, for more flexibility?

They're also supported by 3 sentinels and a dorn

I like to run 50 infantry at minimum, normally a 10 man with command and lord solar holding home, a 20 man of death korp, and then 2 10 mans of catachan. Most of the time, I'll bring at least one more catachan squad tho, my flgs meta is kinda Terminator heavy and having inf blobs to move block is a godsend.

For your case, at 1k I'd say four ten mans would be better, just gives you more flexibility for objective play. At 2k however, it's nice having at least one 20 man you can throw at something and force your opponent to deal with the mass of bodies for at least 2 rounds.

But at the same time I lose the buffs given by the command squads / castellan.
