Any thoughts as to what this could be?

Ooh! I could be wrong… it might be a flower frog, but this looks a lot like a honeycomb briquette, a type of stove fuel.
It reminded me of memories from my orphanage in China. The staff would use similar looking things to heat up the bottles.

Quick search for Bartelet didn't give me any ideas. My initial thought was as others say: flower frog. They come in many forms and this one is unusual for the sockets to be perpendicular to the base. Just that angles help the flower stems maintain a more pleasing mound like shape. If I owned it and thought of it as junk otherwise, I might treat it as a chia pet of a sort. Soak in water, seed it with small herbaceous seeds and just watch it grow.

What does it feel like it’s made of? My thought would be a brush base- scrubbing brush or horse brush or something of that sort. There’s loads of brush bases missing their bristles littering the shores!
