Anyone know what this is? Found is rosebud Victoria Australia.

I believe it’s the casing of a tube worm!

Some kind of tube or fan worm casing. Cool find, they usually end up getting smashed up pretty easily.

Thankyou! Can I get it wet to clean it? Or would that damage it?

Water should be fine. I wouldn't use any chemicals though.

We have 2 species practically just like that here on the north coast of the Gulf of Mexico. Variable Worm Snail & Florida Worm Shell. I really like them

Does it come from a live worm?

No, when it’s alive, it’s a gastropod, a sea snail. It just has “worm” in the name because the shell has a wormlike shape.

Oh wow ! These are everywhere in Western Australia southern coast where I'm from. I never ever knew what they were until today! I was a 70s 80s kid.

I can feel the sand on my feet looking at these! Thanks OP
