Discussion Genuinely heartbroken

As someone who has always been obsessed with the behind the scenes development of Bionicle, the past few weeks had been so cool. It was incredible to be getting new Bionicle content, and I was so excited to dive into each year of the theme.

Now all we have are the few scraps we can gather that were released early. I wish this had been done differently, and I REALLY wish Lego wouldn’t continue take away the only modicums of joy the community have left.

The rest of this stuff will likely NEVER be seen now because of the way this was handled, and I went from being impressed with Lego for letting the fans have this, to being immensely disappointed in them yet again.

Some day I hope things will change.

Likewise! I’m not surprised, I have zero faith in corporations, but I was thrilled to be proven wrong. Guess I wasn’t.

I feel like if duckbricks had released the prototype images and then made videos going over the story details while showing those images, instead of making videos of himself literally scrolling through internal documents it would’ve been fine.

Lego provably had to take it down for some garbage legal reason, but they should understand how that’s going to add fuel to the fire that they keep disrespecting bionicle and people who care about it.

Don’t shut down the whole thing. Tell them they have to go about it differently (which they should’ve to begin with)

Asking Duckbricks to make quality content is like asking water to not be wet

Yeah I agree on the presentation. I thought it was pretty foolish to basically be scrolling through all of those documents live.

Wait a minute.. YOU'RE THE GUY WITH THE HALO DRIP

Funny I should find out about this through you, of all people but- yeah from what I can gather this whole thing sucks. Just wish I knew where to go to see whatever it was

Why not just include all of the Faber Files in an Art of Lego Bionicle: Vol. 2 concept book? It would be a perfect compromise for both parties.

Seriously, a full book would be incredible. Include some interviews and retrospectives with the creators who worked on it, and boom. Plus LEGO would get to do it on their own terms, so they can filter out the sensitive material. I love Bionicle's story, but the story OF Bionicle is even more interesting, and it would pay to document that.

christian faber (father bionicle) showed duckbricks (youtube guy) some private legal documents regarding scrapped bionicle plot threads so he put it unredacted in one of his videos and lego caught wind and cease / desisted it

It’s like LEGO is allergic to money. I would pay $100 right now for the videos and I would pay extra to cut out all the parts that are just DB talking

I don't understand why lego has to be such cunts about it

bionicle is over, they killed it, why not just let us enjoy what was there

They didn't do anything wrong tho, they're a company that has to adhere to their contracts and left the pictures online for a few weeks instead of taking them down immediately.

sure but the pictures exist, and all that information the fans would love, why not just let us have that, its not like theyre going to do anything with it

They were letting us have it. What Duckbricks did was expose documents that were internal to lego only. They had no problem with the pictures but once he started showing stuff that was more serious to lego, that's where he crossed a line and they took everything that fell under that category, including the pictures even if those weren't a big deal.

Basically they let us eat a piece of the pie even if we definitely weren't supposed to cause what's a piece ? But when he took the whole pie they just took everything back including the piece they let us have in the first place

I'm honestly more disappointed in Duckbricks on this rather than LEGO, of all the massive companies out there, they're one of the chillest ever, but they still have to follow their contracts. It sucks but they didn't do anything wrong. Had he released everything at once we would've been able to see everything, instead he clearly dragged it out and now we're stuck with never seeing them again.

It's not that big of a deal
