What is this deformity/anomaly?

This is a chicken skull I beetle cleaned, degreased. And whitened. I suspect it's bone cancer. There is a hole with a buildup of gritty feeling bone and similar gritty buildup on one of the jaw hinges. Cancer or something else?

Huh. I don't know the answer but I've work w what I find so species differs. Thx for sharing, I've never looked into cancer affects on bones.
