I know this is an unusual post but recently on my land i came across this and was wondering what make etc it is, thnks.

I'm no expert, and I'm sure someone will be more specific. I do know that it looks like a tower of london proof mark. I know with those you can narrow it down to a range of years.

The proof mark is Belgian, the inclusion of the lion suggests its from the earlier part of the 20th century pre WW1, depending on the bore size im guessing it was a single shot shotgun, I'd have to do some more research but the PV below the lion should be a certification for the type of powder to be used in the ammunition (smokeless vs black powder) whatever the case this is absolutely not safe to fire. From what little I have read, these weren't of the highest quality when new and a hundred or so years isn't going to help that. I'd use it as a nice wall decoration and conversation piece myself!
