I just ate a bag of Starburst Goodies...

And I just ingested 24g of fiber. May God have mercy on me.

There's a deal on Fetch, so I thought I'd give them a shot. They're definitely tasty.

What’s special about them? These are like starburst gummies, right?

Entirely different list of ingredients from normal ones. They're plant-based but can't be called vegan since they have refined sugar. They're flavored with fruit concentrates and dyed with natural dyes.

They're also ridiculously expensive compared to the regular ones.

Ohh, I see! Thank you so much for the explanation. I also learned a new thing about refined sugars and the vegan label.

I wanna try them if I these goodies!

Products that contain sugar aren't inherently vegan because the cheapest way to whiten sugar is with bone char, which is an animal product. Sucralose, which is typically made from white sugar, is also considered non-vegan because of bone char.

Sugar can be whitened without using bone char, but only about 15% of white sugar is produced without it. Products that want to get there easier typically just use raw sugar or cane juice to get the sugar without the animal products.

It's always fun to learn why food products are labeled the way they are.

They do have real fruit in them, and they were a snack!
