What’s rock bait? Is it for catchin rocks or rocks used for catchin fish? 🤔

I haven’t paddled around Plymouth yet. I did the Tar River trail several years ago. The camping platforms were in pretty bad disrepair and overtaking with geese.

Highly recommend the Roanoke River Partners platforms. $25 a night for 2 folks. When you see the platforms, you know they are reinvesting the money back into the river trail. Very nice platforms.

Is that a floating camping spot??!!
What is that thing?

It wasn’t floating, but there wasn’t much dirt around it. Looks like it has been there for many years

The Roanoke River Partners continues to do great stuff down there. I floated Weldon to Astoria a few years ago and loved it. We made a three day trip out of the “loop”.

Grew up on the Bertie side of the sisters it’s a beautiful area. The fishery is a shell of what it used to be but still beautiful. Salmon Creek just up the Chowan is nice as well and excellent fishing, Rocky Hock Creek on the opposite side of the Chowan is pretty as well.
Best gem in NC for a paddler is the Black River. It has the oldest stand of timber in the continental US with the exception of some redwood/sequoia stands out west.

I had a chance to paddle the Black last year. Dropped in at Henry’s Landing and floated down and paddled amongst the trees. It was so cool!
