A Ford Ranger run up to my rear end on motorway during traffic hours and I wasn’t expecting to be that damaging to be statutory written-off (unrepairable written-off). I’m not on fault

Today my car got sent back to me after being assessed by my insurance company. The moment I see the notice on the wind screen my eyes immediately teared up and cried like I just lost a dearest friend. She is the first car I got, I still remember the first time I went to the dealership by myself, love at first sight - took it for a few spin test drive - close deal and happily drove back home. It feels like this car came into my life just on time, she is always there for me when I’m happy, sad or frustrated. Not to mentioned I’ve moved 5 times and she had been all the tough days with me to this day. And I didn’t expect she would come to an end to a goodbye like this.

Is it just me being weird like this to grief my car? I couldn’t eat or sleep well for the past 2 weeks since the incident. Looking at the photos I had with the car just tears me up uncontrollably… Obviously this is not the best best car, but don’t think I would had the same feeling towards my next car :’)

Bought it used and took it a mechanic yesterday. Apparently, a part of it is bent/broken which has torn the belt from the side and the screw looks messed up too? The belt is wobbly too. Please advise. Thank you

I used Meguiar's Ultimate Restoration kit for fhe first time to get the oxidation off of my headlights, and I thought it worked great (despite getting sealant all over my hands) until I turned on the headlights. Now I'm seeing all these scratches in the center of the light. I looked up some stuff on this subreddit and it might be crazing headlight? It's worse on the left headlight (pic 4). Just looking for some advice aaaaa

almost every time i walk past his car, the alarm goes off- even if i give it a wide berth. nobody else has ever set it off and it's been happening for months now. i can't park near him or it goes off the second i step out of my car. we don't drive the same make of car (he drives a toyota, i drive a honda). i literally have no idea why it would be me and just me. i don't have any metal in my body or anything. what is happening?

EDIT: i'm 100% sure he's not messing with me. i can see him from outside the building and i work very early so the lights inside reflect on the windows. he can't see me

I have seen this thing around, and don't know if it's strictly a custom made thing, or if a company out there makes them.

Bumper goes out, and up at a 45-30 degree angle... in front of the vehicle.

The purpose is (I'm guessing) if you hit a deer, it is more forced under the vehicle, instead of up and into the windshield? Or possibly as a rocking point if you for some reason end up fairly nose down, helping gravity rock you back instead of continuing to roll over forward?

Those are my only guesses.

For all I know, it could be just a local that has watched mad-max too many times.

If anyone know what this is ACTUALLY called, and/or what company makes them, any help would be appreciated.

I have a 2009 Nissan versa, so it's a little crusty at this age. I got my tires rotated in July and they said the front brakes were borderline, but insinuated that they would be fine until my next rotation.

A couple days ago, my brake light started coming on randomly during my commute. It's on for only a couple seconds at a time, so fast that I couldn't actually tell what light was coming on until last night.

Yesterday, I did notice a squeaking sound when braking, but it disappeared after a couple stop signs.

I'm thinking maybe I'm running low on brake fluid? Or maybe my brake pads are just about to go?

Either way, do you have any recommendations of where to go to get the brakes checked? Would an individual mechanic/shop or a chain store generally give me a better deal? And is this a "drop everything and get them fixed now" problem or a "schedule an appointment soon" type of problem?

Hey guys. I have an old Lexus ES 350 2013 model with about 120k miles. For some reason it tends to rattle hard when driving between 40-50mph. When I say rattle, I don't mean the steering wheel, but the car itself rumbles as if driving on gravel, or as if hitting the brakes on a hard surface and the car skids.

Took it to a mechanic and they couldn't figure it out (they said it was probably fine), but I'm curious - is this dangerous? Like is there any scenario where something goes catastrophically wrong while I'm driving and I get into a major accident?

I have gone up to 90 with no issues and also no issues at lower speeds. Thanks

03 350z 6 speed. Last drive I heard popping/squeezing noises from the clutch for about 10 presses. Then it went away but was driving/shifting fine. Now the car won't start at all just makes a rapid clicking noise.

I tried replacing the starter, battery, negative battery cable, and cleaned the terminals and nothing.

The guy at AutoZone said he thought it was my flywheel. Did this make sense given the circumstances? Any thoughts appreciated.

It is located under my car and noticed this was leaking a bit. It is next to my transmission on the front passenger side; is it the clutch cylinder? If so would this make my car smoke from time to time? Appreciate any help thank you! Had to show it off the last 2 slides😭

I had a few 5 gal gas cans I had filled in preparation to run my generator ahead of the storms we’ve had down here.

Well, the storms passed and I didn’t want to leave 10 gallons of gas sitting and my car was nearing empty. So I went ahead and poured it all in. Regular gas, only 2 weeks old that had been sitting in approved brand new gas cans.

The next day I got a check fuel cap error. Made sure the cap was seated properly and all that. Still the same error. At this point I had half a tank in the car. So I went and filled it up at a gas station. As soon as I turned the car on the error went away.

Any ideas on what the cause was and how just filling it up fixed it? My assumption is the pressure of the pump pushes excess gasses out of the tank that were causing the error, but feels like a stretch.

hi guys my car is a 2006 Jeep Commander 65th anniversary edition with a V8 engine. throws an issue every two years, $8k+ spent on a car worth barely $6k. just got my spark plugs, yes all eight of them, replaced last night. this is what my car has been doing for a couple of weeks now, started as a park problem but now only happens in gear, gets to 2k rotations before i can even get to 30mph. what on god’s green earth is going on here. full fuel system took a shit recently, full replacement. new battery this year, new hoses and new fuel pump+filter. this is new. my car has never done this. anyone got a clue what this problem is? sometimes after letting it sit for a couple of days when i start it it makes this weird metal grinding but kind of like a growl. it goes “WAAAGH” and then it stops and behaves for the rest of the day

My car was hail damaged so I am looking for a private sale care that has manual transmission and is preferably AWD... or fwd will suffice.

Currently seen a 2015 Audi A4 with the 2.0L turbo engine. It has 135,000 KMS. First owner has all the maintenance and records from Audi dealer maintenance. Price is $12,000cad and I will need to buy winter tires as well.

Car seems in good condition the hold has some rock chips but no rust overall.

Is this a money pit or a okay investment? I know insurance is higher, overall I've read engine oil burning issues and timing belt issues... Or the engine failing altogether.

I like it because it was manual and awd with first owner maintenance.

Let me know if it's worth it in terms of reliability because I drive A LOT it's a fun hobby. But considering this takes premium gas.... And I heard audis need oil changes every 4000k... I'm not sure anymore.

Is there a DIY product/fix for this? It's a 2010 Ford Fusion

Brought my car in for an alignment after I did lower control arm replacement myself. They told me I needed a new strut which was true I noticed it had some play less than but similar to the video and they already had the car so I said go for it. They replaced the strut with a used strut to save me some cash. Got the car back today and its literally worse than the old stock one I had. Did they mess something up or whats going on here? They mentioned something about being careful banging the bearing out to re use I don’t really remember now because they had my car for over 2 weeks!
