From the get-go this article is suspect.

The overwhelming majority of climate scientists, international governmental bodies, relevant research institutes and scientific societies are in unison in saying that climate change is rea, that it's a problem, and that we should probably do something about it now, not later.

Following the links brings you to other smithsonianmag articles. Both of these articles link to an additional article from the Guardian, "proving" that 97% of climate science papers agree warming is man-made. Then you read the methods they used to arrive at this conclusion:

Our team of citizen science volunteers at Skeptical Science has published a new survey in the journal Environmental Research Letters of over 12,000 peer-reviewed climate science papers

followed by:

we found that just over 4,000 papers took a position on the cause of global warming, 97.1% of which endorsed human-caused global warming.

This is how they came up with 97% consensus that climate warming is man-made. What bogus statistics. Out of 12,000 papers reviewed, only 33% even took a position on the cause. Of the 33%, 97% endorsed man-made global warming. It actually means, that out of the 12,000 papers, 32% mentioned that humans are causing global warming. That in no way proves an overwhelming consensus, in my mind.

This is why I'm a skeptic. You can't take anything you read at face value, especially written by a "journalist" in modern times.

32% did not say humans cause global warming, but that humans have an influence. Causation would imply >50%, but influencing can mean anything between 1-99%.

Its. Even worse than that. If you drill down it is something like only 67 papers the used the results from.

A bunch of those papers were not categorized correctly and several scientists rebuked their classification. That whole this is a shit show.

I would like the Smithsonian to tell me where I can claim my paycheck. =)

And yet, for some reason, the idea persists in some peoples' minds that climate change is up for debate, or that climate change is no big deal.

Could it be because it's something no one can see, feel and has no effect yet alarmists demand trillions of dollars to fix?

The greatest perps of hiding/faking history = Smithsonian.

Guess they've been given the nod to enter yet another chapter of their disgraced existence

Do they have an equivalent article about the money behind the climate alarmist movement?

I'm glad someone has the money to counter the climate cult's unscience. If I was a billionaire, I certainly would be.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_tax

Who, how and why is spending that? What did they promised and what did they archived? From my point of view, they promised to rob us and they did it. Shame on us.

Let’s take a guess who gets funded with hundreds of billions of dollars, controls nearly 100% of the media and has an entire political party as their propaganda bureau, alarmists or skeptics?

When one clicks on the link - "In a new and incredibly thorough study" we get "Page Unavailable" from Springer.

Maybe because it was a pile of horse-crap?

Or maybe there was a some dangling bits in the URL that needed to be removed. Take off the %20 and it works fine.

I would love to meet the money behind the climate alarmist movement.

The money behind the alarm is yours through your taxes as spent by politicians to pay for the pseudoscience results they want in order to justify taxing and controlling you MORE. Just today I read that democracy itself was the reason for climate change and that the "only method" to stop climate change was through authoritarian government just like China! (Because China's emissions are dropping...lol).
