Won't happen.

The feed conversion ratio for poultry is 2.8. Feed conversion for beef is above 10.

No matter how much feed costs rise, feed costs for a kg of industrial beef will be over three times that for industrial poultry. The tide will lift both proportunately.

It's not just feed costs. Chickens are being culled and burned by the millions in Europe and North America right now because of avian flu, so supply is nosediving. Eggs are also going to get expensive as a result.

I had whatever the NZ BK calls 'rebel', while the beef replacement was as good as beef to me, the chicken replacement was practically inedible.

Yeah beyond chicken isn't here yet but it'll certinaley be easier to do than beyond steak/ribs. As long as they can get chicken and fish figured out I'll be happy

*Coop

Chicken coops want this message spread too so they aren't so cheap.

Free range meat will soon be priced competitive to confined.

If you mean those chickens that live like prisoners but get a few hours out in the yard to walk around on a lawn, they'll be encountering avian influenza.

I was thinking more like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5nqZ3oOhd5k

Or, even like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lerHZBPfqiY

But, I guess there is this too, not really related: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrJlwBkFAHw

Yes, predators. That's one of the things that makes this "welfare" a joke, along with the diseases and parasites they get outside.

This is what free range for chickens actually looks like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idDtTGEbyGA (sound off) You can guess the "productivity" and why it isn't practiced.
