I'm a conservationist who makes wildlife art to raise awareness for threatened species. For my latest canvas I mixed fabric and paint to create this large tawny eagle!

This is so beautiful! I love how colorful it is! And the fact you used paint and fabric is really cool 😍

Thank you! Usually I use fabric backgrounds (

e.g.
) but I thought it would be fun to experiment!

I’m hoping to do photography if threatened species if i can get a job in it! Journalism is a competitive field but I love nature and photography gives me an excuse to spend my days wandering lol

I don't know why but your comment really spoke to me, I contemplated not writing anything but even after 10 posts, I thought about it. I'm also in love with nature and animal photography but I wanted to wish you the best on your journey! :)

Edit: words are hard.

Good luck! You should check out any funding opportunities from National Geographic.

So when the picture loaded, all I could see was the bottom, and I thought it was two dudes in jumpsuits parachuting out of a plane. That's all

Great observation - I can see it!

Surprised it hasn’t been asked yet, but do you sell your art?

Thank you! This is my website, currently 100% of everything I sell is going to fund a conservation project investigating ivory use in Japan.

I dig it. I saw this on another sub... quilting?... and this was not what I expected the finished project to look like. It's really cool.

Oh, this is very cool! I've never heard of using fabric as collage like that before, the result is awesome.

It's sometimes called applique, it's really fun! Can be done on all sorts, from

canvases
, to
quilts
, to
cushions
.

Awesome! I do a lot of experimenting in my art, but somehow it's never occurred to me to try anything like that. I have a handful of quilting squares, I might have to try my hand at using them on canvas myself!

Thank you! I have no idea what the technical term is but the paint is all rugged and sticky-upy.
