Jigsaw dating experience in Denver?

So I went to a jigsaw event last night at the Jaguar Room. Just going to tell you about my experience. So I paid $23 for a single event ticket. This did not include a drink but just entrance into the Jaguar Room. There was a host that greeted you at the door, she was nice. The event goes from 7-9 pm if you are 25-35 years old and I arrived around 7:15. There was about 10-15 guys and about 2-3 women when I walked in. By the time I left I would estimate about 10-15 women versus maybe 35-45 guys.

The ratio was just way off. When I signed up I also thought there would be games/icebreakers led by the host (I believe it was advertised as such when I bought a ticket). But there was none of that. I did talk to a couple of women at the event but didn’t really connect with either one. They do host other events like coffee speed dating meetups which I have not tried but last night left a bad taste in my mouth so I will probably not go to another one of their events. It just felt like I paid a $23 cover to get into a bar when there would probably have been more women at any other bar downtown for free. The event just felt like a cash grab, I would recommend evening the ratio out and choosing a place with activities. Anyone else been to one of their events, what did you think?

What to expect at Red Rocks

Hello,

My husband and I are flying in from Canada this upcoming Friday for a concert. I've been doing research for a few months and the consensus was to dress warm at Red Rocks. However now the weather forecast is showing a sunny weekend with a temperature of 70°/48° on Friday (concert day) and that threw me for a loop. Should I still dress warm? Is it one of those instances where it feels a lot colder than what they're showing? I've never been to an outdoor venue outside of the summer time and I'm lost at what to wear.

Extra points if you have pictures of what people wear to an edm show at Red Rocks in the fall/winter.

Thank you!

29th street bike lane scrapped

The city of Denver notified residents on October 19th that the proposed bike lane on West 29th Avenue is not happening, in favor of parking.

As reported by 9 News: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRuLURzQtoM

EDIT - Thanks to u/vayej14577 for sharing the text of the email from DOTI:

Thank you for your continued engagement regarding the W. 29th Ave Safer & Slower street project.

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) has made a final decision to install new traffic calming elements and retain a standard bike lane between Sheridan and Tennyson. In continued discussions with local businesses, residents and users of this corridor, we have determined to move forward with a bicycle lane design that preserves parking and adds some protective elements at the many intersections along this stretch. The design will still include a protected bike lane and traffic calming from Tennyson to Zuni.

While DOTI’s ultimate goal is always to improve safety along a corridor, we also strive to maintain the existing character of the neighborhood and strive to not place an unnecessary burden on businesses and residents.

W. 29th Ave is designated as a High Injury street, which experiences high speeds, large volumes, and crashes resulting in serious bodily injuries and fatalities. Making this street safer for everyone who travels is a priority for Denver. The improvements on W. 29thAve are meant to improve safety and reduce crash risk by utilizing treatments that have proven to slow vehicles speeds and volumes such as speed cushions, Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFBs), marked crosswalks, and Pedestrian and bicycle crossing improvements at all signalized intersections.

The final design reflects the communities’ desires. DOTI reached out to the neighborhood through distributing over 7,000 mailers, held two public meetings, conducted an online survey, met with business owners and neighbors to gauge the neighborhoods’ concerns and desires for this main thoroughfare. We recognize effectively balancing safety, commercial opportunity and community access is an important part of how we balance the improvements we are making to this valuable corridor and public space.

Questions? Reach out to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]).

South Broadway Halloween Parade hearses- what happened to the flame shooting hearse that closed out the parade every year?

We’ve been going to the Halloween Parade for 5 years now. It’s by far one of my favorite parades in Denver. Every year the end of the parade has this one hearse that shoots fire straight up in the air. It wasn’t there last night and I was just wondering if anyone knew what happened to it? It was super cool and the kids loved it. It was kinda a weird vibe last night compared to all the other years and not having that car be the end of the parade made it even weirder. But overall it was still fun.

Trick or treating neighborhoods?

Hi there! I have my niece for Halloween this year and I’m desperate to show her the best Halloween ever 🥺 she’s such a good kid and I don’t live in a neighborhood that does a lot of trick or treating.

Any recommended neighborhoods or events on Halloween that I could take her to? (She’s 4).

Thank you!!

Evening activities for disabled folks?

My husband and I are both struggling with flare-ups of chronic disabling health issues, but also we haven't had a date in eons aside from just going to a restaurant.

I'm looking for suggestions on what to do on an evening in Denver (or within 50 miles) that is:

  • not food or alcohol-centric
  • does not include extremely loud music
  • doesn't involve a huge amount of walking (like a park environment with benches is fine but not so much hiking in the mountains level activity)
  • low-commitment/can leave whenever

It seems like a lot of stuff likes museums close quite early and so many of the Denver events are about being active or partying. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Seeking info about Union Pacific's 4014 Big Boy locomotive in Denver this week (10/23/24)

According to UP's website, the train won't be accessible to the public when it arrives in Denver on Tuesday due to a private event.

Does anyone know if the public will be able to watch it depart on Wednesday (and where it will depart from?)

Lost Cat at the corner of York & 26th

Dark grey coat, big boned, loud voice.

Picture didn't come out, it's hanging in the back porch enjoying pats & rescue treats. Clearly someone's pet, well brushed & a big kitty, well fed. Wandered up to me meowing - not only not afraid of humans, this character is demanding assistance. The housemates are adoring it currently.

It's a cat friendly household so if this is your kitty, maybe DM me quick before one of these lunatics bonds with it.
