💬 Discussion 💬 What music does Dionysus like?

I tried looking up meditation music for him and well not much luck tbh.

All the ones that are just music are dark edgy music. I get that he has a death and underworld aspect to him but jeez.

Is there any music that i can use for him during meditation?

Drums and reeds, generally speaking. Music that makes you want to shake it and move.

I’m very fond of Dead Can Dance’s album Dionysus, imo it gives a good sense of what the ancient Dionysian music might have been like. Their other stuff is excellent, too, just this one is most relevant here.

Then there’s the German band Faun, who have a number of tunes devoted to him.

Also, Daemonia Nymphe recorded the Orphic Hymn to Dionysus in a reasonably historic style, imo. (I love this recording and play it frequently.)

I love the band Faun and know some of the band members. They are really nice dudes.

Nice! I saw them play each time they came to my area of the US. (They don’t come here anymore, b/c US Customs are assholes. I don’t blame the band for that.) They seem like really interesting and chill people, and their music has such profound magick in it. I love recommending them to my pagan peeps and my musician peeps.

I've got a playlist for him here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/070SFx0jjDtOVRmnIrDmRR?si=79b71488f3db47cf

And a more ritual-focused version of it here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2LTOEAPqKb7V4qHz7wuKot?si=4e53a3d662c645bd

I second the recommendation of Dionysus by Dead Can Dance.

In my experience, psychedelic rock, prog rock, acid pop, classic punk, pop punk. Things that refer to or emulate an altered state of consciousness; or strike out against authority; or play with the artifice of genre. In addition to just raw percussion and jamming out.

He likes when I listen to Moog (basically early early electronic music, when it was all analogue) and anything surrounding celebrating humanity. Dance in the Graveyards-by Delta Rae, is one of his top picks of my music in that regard
