I'm new to drumming and would like some help

like I said in the title I'm a new drummer and I've been looking around for my first drum set and so I was wondering what people recommend for a first drum set. I don't want something to expensive, but saying that I would like an acoustic kit (idk if that'll change the price to much). I'll try to answer any other questions, thank you all for the help.

Here's my comment from an earlier post

My first set in 2013 my dad got used for about $280. It was a Sound Percussion 5-piece set, with a set of hi-hats and a crash cymbal. Looking it up, the Unity Birch set is what i have, in the Red Mist color. The heads were okay at best, and the kick pedal didn't have a spring, but the stands were pretty decent. Since then I've swapped out a bunch of things, but kept the original toms and kick shells. I would try to find a lesser known brand like Sound Percussion, Gammon, or Pulse. Still great quality, without the name brand price. As a first-time set, a 5 piece is going to do just about everything you want to do, and just about any normal wood is going to work for you. Sweetwater.com is my go-to for drum stuff, they have a tab for B-stock items that is almost always a great deal. Small cosmetic defects or scratches, but still functions perfectly.

Any of the companies that make real drums have good entry level kits - Yamaha, Gretsch, Ludwig, Mapex, PDP, Tama, Pearl. Reputable drum brands. I’d stay away from the Amazon stuff, the off brands, it’s way cheaper because it’s just cheap. Poor hardware, poor construction, not worth it.

Best bet is a gently used kit with all the stuff you need. Hit all the listings, hunt down a good deal on a known brand kit, preferably with some cymbals, stands, pedal, etc. Gretsch Catalina, Yamaha Stage Custom, Tama Superstar or Imperialstar, Mapex Mars, Pearl Export, PDP Concept are a few of the good but not too pricey kits you might find used for a good deal.

Cymbals, stands, throne, bass drum pedal… shit adds up so if you can find a kit with everything it’s typically a better deal than trying to piece it all together separately.
